Information Central: Articles of Enduring Interest Part 2

This collection of articles are mostly what I've written on the various subjects I feel are of enduring interest and which ought to be available any time. Some are links from several of my web sites and others are links to articles on other people's sites. Others are reposts with permission. But all are important. The links are posted alphabetically by subject. Since this page will be constantly "under construction," with new articles being added all the time, you should bookmark it and return to it regularly.

Reprint, repost permission: Publishers, web site owners, etc: You may reprint or repost any article here which carries my copyright as long as you do so in complete form, retain my copyright indicia, and add this notice at the bottom:

"Used by permission of the writer. Ray Thomas publishes many different web-based newsletters on different subjects. To learn about them and be able to read them and subscribe to any of them by simply clicking a link, go to his personal web site at: https://www.angelfire.com/co2/RayThomas and look for what you want."

You can just copy the above paragraph and paste it at the bottom.

Outrages

And Bill Gates Shrugged:
In Ayn Rand's masterpiece, "Atlas Shrugged," the "men of the mind" went "on strike" and withdrew their minds from the market so that the moochers and looters could see the final result of the thievery of the result of their thinking and productive endeavors. This story is a fictional account of Bill Gates' similar removal of his mind and its products from the market. It uses a well-known scene from the book where Dagny Taggart waited outside one industrialist's office while John Galt convinced that industrialist to "retire" as many others had done before him, but using Bill Gates and one of his attorneys as the people involved. I think it is a very telling story and I wish I had written it.

"Hanoi Jane" Fonda:
I've been aware for many years that Jane Fonda had been a "peace activist" during the Viet Nam war and had committed treason, at least by going there, wearing their uniform, appearing seated in one of their tanks, and making propaganda releases for them. But until now I did not know of the depths of her depravity in taking actions that led directly to the beatings, and even deaths of prisoners of war. This is an "eye-witness account" of some of her treasonous activities by two of the POWs she helped to injure. There was nothing wrong with being a "peace activist" during that war. Had I known what I know now, I would have been one. But the things she did crossed the line between "peace activist" and "treason".

Philosophy and Politics

Many people think that what I do is all about politics. It is not. It is about philosophy. As a student of Objectivist philosophy, I look at the world through those eyes. But since it is impossible to divorce philosophy from politics, I must write about politics, by default.

(The) Ant and the Grasshopper:
This is a "fairy tale" that, like most fairy tales, illustrates a "life lesson" for all of us. It is short, but informative, and simplified for easy understanding by those who have not been "paying attention to politics."

Bottom Line-Power:
Every time you see a new "crisis" in the news it's another power grab. Learn to "read between the lines.

Common Sense for the 21st Century:
This is my "Manifesto." It is my version of the "Common Sense" that Thomas Paine wrote, updated. It contains as complete an enumeration of what the power seekers are doing in their power-lust quest to become our masters in all things. To be able to "micromanage all our lives. They really believe they're smarter than we are and that they are entitled to rule us. You'll see many things in this report that you will recognize as what has already happened, is in the process of happening, or will happen in the future as the power seekers work to extend their power. If you read nothing else here, read this.

(The) Evita Factor:
Evita Peron and her husband, Juan, took a thriving economy in Argentina and destroyed it in ten years by doing the same things Evita...er, uh, Hillary and Bill Clinton are doing now. Their administration is an excellent copy of that of the Perons. Is that what you want?

Forty Years Ago:
People wonder why today, children are killing each other and others more and more. They weren't doing it 40 years ago. Why? This article by John Quinn tells us exactly why they are doing it today and weren't then. It's something to think about.

Hero: John Stossel:
This article is used by permission of "The Objectivist Daily." a web site for people interested in learning about Objectivist philosophy, individualism, logic, and reason. It contains much information of interest to anybody interested in maintaining their freedom. I go there every morning, first thing. John Stossel does television specials on things other television people avoid like the plague, and which are important to us. He is a "true hero."

(The) Little Dutch Boy:
The "Little Dutch Boy" put his finger in the dike and saved the town. Under today's laws, rules and regulations, he wouldn't be able to do that. He would put everybody involved in prison or out of work.

(The).Mind on Strike:
Power seekers claim that the rich, the owners of factories and large businesses are "riding the backs" of the workers and that "the workers" are every bit as important to their success as they are, if not more important. This article debunks that notion completely. It "blasts it completely out of the water" by showing that without the creative and original ideas of those people and their superior management skills, there would be no factory for the "workers" to work in, thus, no jobs for them to be "exploited" by. This is basic. A "must read."

My Militia:
One of the things you won't find here is a "militia" to join. But if you want to "join together" and make things happen, you can join the Thomas Paine Society, a loosely-organized group of people who get together in their own locality and discuss the issues (a la the Founders), and who constantly attempt to bring the depredations of the power seekers to the attention of those who need to know by using the Internet and by writing letters to the editor and other kinds of articles and getting them published. People who care about retaining our freedom and want to do something about it. The price is right: it's free.

Not Interested in Politics?
You'd Better Be. You cannot ignore politics. Politics will affect you anyway, to your detriment.

Objectivist "True Believers":
Many people accuse me of being an Objectivist "True Believer" who believes everything ever uttered by Ayn Rand, originator of the Objectivist philosophy. That she is, like a "deity," unable to make a mistake. On the contrary, I disagree with her on several points because she approached them from a subjective premise. But this essay, by Howard Hood, gives ten points that will allow people to identify real Objectivist "True Believers," who subconsciously regard Objectivism as a "religion" or a "cult" of which they are members.

Words Mean Things:
When reading a newsletter such as "Beyond Common Sense" it is important that you understand the exact meaning of words as we use them, not as the liberals do. They routinely distort the meaning of words to confuse you. We use words as they were meant to be used and the exact meaning of many words might surprise you.

Power Seeker Scams

(Is) Communism Really Dead?
One of the biggest cons that ever was is the "collapse" of communism in Russia. It's all to "lull the Americans to sleep, says Gorbachev."

Creating Hysteria:
To gain power, you "create hysteria" about a real or imagined "problem." It's called "The Hegelian Principle."

Decade of Greed?
The power seekers tell "The Big Lie" that the Reagan years were the "Decade of Greed." Facts and figures from their own sources to put the lie to that.

Federal Money Equals Federal Control:
This is about Hillsdale College, which is one of, if not the only college in the country to tell Uncle Sam to "stuff it" when they demanded Hillsdale's "contribution" to the federal "red tape pool" It has refused admission to all students who have any amount of federal assistance for their cost of attending this college to avoid being told what and how to teach by the federal government.

(The) Hegelian Principle:
The principle described here is the single scam that has been the most effective for the power seekers in their efforts to gain total power over everybody. It has been so successful for them in fact, it could be said that its use is alone responsible for their continual move toward a totalitarian government in spite of the supposed "gains" of the opposition in recent years. If you read no other report you've found here, you must read this one. It will open your eyes to the fact that every new "crisis" about which the press beats the drums is a presage to a new law or regulation to "draw the noose tighter" around your neck.

Real Medicare Fraud:
People think the "Medicare Fraud" is only that perpetrated by those who overbill and bill for procedures not done. Not so: this is, indeed, a fraud, but it is only one of the frauds perpetrated on us. Worse is the paperwork and control of the federal government, which drives prices up and reduces services. The whole idea of Medicare is the way the power seekers in our government hope to take over complete control of our medical profession. Here is a knowledgeable article by someone who deals with it every day.

(Is it) One Conspiracy?
While we're arguing over inconsequential matters, they're picking our pockets and enslaving us behind our backs.

"(The) Sky is Falling!":
Another major scam is the phony "global warming" scam. Here are the words of an eminent environmental scientist to debunk it.

Social Security Number As ID:
To rule you they have to give you a number and force you to use it. That number is the Social Security number

(The Great) Social Security Swindle:
Social Security has swindled you out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, maybe even millions. This article contains a chart that will let you see how much they got you for.

To Rob the People:
Nobody can rip you off better than government. Their schemes and scams have the "color of law." And they've got so many scams running on you at any given time that it's impossible for one person to even know about them all, let alone do something about them. This report tells you about a few of them.

Privacy

Big Brother Wins Privacy Battle:
Under cover of a name that purports to "protect privacy," the government has passed a law that flat takes it away. The whole idea of the law discussed here was to make it impossible for a private investigator to get a person's home address so he could murder that person as was done in the famous case that prompted this law. Unfortunately, giving our private information to private investigators is just one of the many "exceptions" that make this a law that not only doesn't "protect" our privacy, but eliminates it.

Thieves With Badges
"Jack-Booted Thugs?"
The National Rifle Association was roundly criticized a few years ago when it sent out a fund-raising letter in which it referred to "jack-booted thugs." Are there "jack-booted thugs" out there? Were they right? This report gives you the answer along with some facts and figures.

Police Bandits:
This is such an egregious case of police thievery and fighting over the loot, you must read it.
