Learn the approach to outdoor landscape painting that Claude
Monet used to create his impressionistic masterpieces. Classes will
take place at the School of Living Arts in beautiful Crestone, Colorado
set at the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains in the San
Luis Valley.
.
Instructor Chuck Ceraso studied with the American impressionist,
Henry Hensche. Hensche, who died in 1992, at the age of 92, taught exercises
for developing the ability to see and mix color. Based on the work of Monet
and Charles Hawthorne, Hensche taught his students how to see beyond color
expectations, prejudices and preferences. In this, the student develops
the ability to capture the “color key” and depict radiant light effects
in his painting.
Ceraso continues to develop and teach these exercises in his studio in Lafayette as well as at the Denver Art Museum. His work can be seen in his gallery in Lafayette, Colorado. “Chuck Ceraso opened my eyes to the glory of light and color around me and gave me the tools to create vibrant landscape paintings. --Angela Manno, Landscape Painter;
