Campfire Foods

Hobo Stew: First Night Delight

(Must be made and frozen before trip)
1/2 lb - Hamburger (We use Turkeyburger)
1 small potato, sliced
1 small carrot, sliced
1/2 small onion, sliced
Liberal Amount of Cresent Season Salt (Essential)

Spread 1/2 of meat out on a large piece of tin foil, enough to make several wraps. Cover meat with veggies, sprinkle liberally with Season Salt. Cover veggies with remaining meat. Wrap tin foil around the whole thing. Stick the whole thing in the freezer and freeze solid. The day of the trip take it out and put it in your pack. You want it to be thawed when you set up camp the first night. Throw it in the fire. Color is the indicator of doneness, if the tin foil is black so is your meal. Try for a light brown and lots of steam.

S'mores

Put half a chocolate bar on half a graham cracker. Toast your marshmallow until squishy inside. Put marshmallow on chocolate and add the other half of your graham cracker for a scrumptous sandwich. Of couse you will have half a candy bar left, so you will want to make another. Share with a friend.

Stuffed Bananas

One banana per person
1 teaspoon of mint chocolate chips per banana
Aluminum foil

Leave the peel on and cut a slit deep down the side of each banana.
Stuff a teaspoon of chips into each banana and wrap in a double layer of aluminum foil. Cover in coals and bake for 10 minutes. Eat with a spoon. Nuts and marshmallows are great in there too!

Pineapple Rings

For an exotic change of pace, brush pineapple slices with coconut milk and dip in brown sugar. Wrap in foil and toss on the edge of some coals to warm.
