Stone Soup

This is a recipe my son put together after reading the story, Stone Soup. I am just grateful this wasn't the day we read How to Eat Fried Worms.
2 c water to start
1-2 bouillon cubes
2 T butter
1/4 small cabbage
1-2 c meat
2 small potatoes
1 large onion
2 sliced carrots
6 mushrooms
1 clove garlic
1 tomato
1/2 c rice
salt and pepper to taste

Warm 2 cups of water in a big pot. Dissolve 1 or 2 bouillon cubes. Add whatever you have on hand in the house. You can even throw in leftover vegetables or pasta. Add more water to cover vegetables. Bring to boil the turn down to simmer for a couple hours until vegetables and rice are tender.
