"OTHER ANIMALS?" A recent notice in the newspaper said this: "Tommy: a 6-year-old male (cat), neutered, gets along well with children and other animals." Children and "other animals?"

PARENTS OF TRUANTS TO BE PUNISHED: In the usual liberal style, instead of putting the responsibility where it belongs, "authorities" are trying to blame parents for their children's truancy. While doing everything in their power to destroy what authority over their children parents have left through the crimes of the child protectors, they are now working merrily toward putting parents in jail when their children predictably get in trouble. Little Johnny now tells his parents that he doesn't have to obey them because all he has to do is "drop a dime" on them to the child protectors and they're in trouble. This is what he has been systematically taught in recent years, in school, on television, everywhere he goes. So does anybody with any sense wonder why his parents can't control him?

Then they dope him to the gills with the cocaine-like Ritalin, sometimes without the parent's knowledge or permission, other times after mounting a campaign to condition the parents to accept it. Dope that is known to cause them BECOME psychotic and to hate everyone around them. Then they wonder why Johnny takes a gun and kills everybody he can, including himself. The "social engineers" will never admit it, but they are responsible for the very behavior they attribute to bad parenting and the "easy availability of guns." They've created these problems so they could use them to attack their targets: parental rights and guns. Open your eyes, people. They're destroying you right before your eyes and you won't see it.

HOME SCHOOLING IS BETTER: Public school supporters promote a picture of homeschoolers as "reactionary backwoods types" who don't want their kids to be tainted by newfangled notions like literacy and personal hygiene. They may be right about everything except what it is about which they don't want them "tainted." Homeschoolers want their children to become literate, which is a lot more difficult than it used to be. That's because public schools play down such things as " 'readin' 'ritin, and 'rithmetic." They spend most of the time teaching them to become "politically correct" and to revere collectivism as an ideal. That this has caused a "quantum reduction in literacy" is a given. SAT scores have been going steadily downward in recent years in spite of efforts to mask the downward spiral by adding "adjustment" points to everybody's score.

The fact is that homeschooled students consistently outperform public school students by every method used to measure performance according to several studies. They're more apt to be "plugged in" and "wired up" than public school students and cite the Internet as being a major tool in their success. Colleges are even more willing to accept homeschooled students. Finicky Harvard has actually assigned an admissions officer to review their applications.

Until 1980, homeschooling was illegal in a majority of states, but because of a series of courtroom victories sparked by such things as the 1997 win in the National Spelling Bee by a homeschooled girl, it is now legal in 50 states.

Since it is now undeniably true that homeschooled students do better than those in public schools, the anti-homeschoolers are now desperately claiming that homeschooled children will suffer by not developing "socialization skills." In other words, isolation from other children will hurt them. But this is also proving to be a lie, since children naturally gravitate toward one another after school, engaging in many communal activities such as baseball, football, soccer, "hanging out," and other, more learning-oriented things.

The public school promoters hope to entice students back into public schools with "free" resources (which we pay for) and other seductive lures, then impose "mandatory" homeschooling "oversight" regulations designed to make it more difficult to homeschool than to send children to public schools. They're determined to stop the "student drain" from public schools by any means necessary. Each student who isn't subject to their conditioning not only costs the system money, it creates yet one more adult who will not buy their baloney and they can't have that.

One of their more recent tactics is to make homeschooling one of the "indicators of child abuse" and take children away from homeschooling parents. Since child abuse laws are so vague and subjective they have gotten away with it upon occasion. Child abuse seems to be what social workers SAY it is these days and many courts accept their unsupported and unschooled word as "evidence."

If they succeed in destroying the advance toward homeschooling we will then resume our unstoppable descent toward illiteracy. The one that began when they stopped teaching academics in public schools and began teaching "political correctness." Let's hope they fail.

IGNORANT? Politicians like to call questions they can't answer "ignorant." According to Clinton, the questions Congress has raised about his excessive travel as a waste of taxpayer money are "ignorant." And Denver Mayor Wellington Webb's press aide called my question about how they expected to make criminals, who break the law routinely, obey a law that says they can't be armed "ignorant." But I notice that in neither case did they actually answer the question.

That's a common politician pattern: call the question "ignorant" or "stupid" and go on to other things without answering it. They hope no one notices. But I do, and I intend to make people aware of this pattern so they can watch for it.

CHILD ABUSE TASK FORCE: After four children died in foster care in Colorado recently, Governor Owens appointed a task force under the Lt. Governor to look into what's wrong with child protection in the state. After a few months of "investigation," they came up with thirty plus "suggestions." One was to appoint a commission to oversee the child protectors. One with subpoena powers and "real teeth." But that idea was rejected as creating a commission that was "too powerful."

Fancy that. Seems to me that what we desperately need is "oversight with teeth." But who listens to me? They bounced me from the Governor's Ad Hoc Committee on Child Abuse Issues (a part of the Task Force) after I presented them with a 40-plus list of what is wrong with the child protector system (not just in Colorado, but pretty much all over the country, maybe even the world). They did it by repeatedly giving me false dates for meetings (the same pattern that was used to take my children from me 30 years ago with no charges against me or my wife) and ignoring my protests. That should give you an idea of just how serious they are.

Look for that list to appear on the "Child Protector Watch" web site/newsletter with the next issue. Go to: https://www.angelfire.com/co2/childprotectorwatch and you'll find it among the articles posted there.

WOMAN SHOOTS INTRUDER: Two men tried to kick in Alyson Renee Norman's door and fired shots (with an illegal gun?) into her apartment. Whereupon she shot and critically injured one of them, Kelan Benford, 18, and the other one fled (in terror?). At last word, Benford was still in critical condition in the hospital and the other was presumably still running.

Score one more (out of millions) for a legal gun in the hands of an otherwise defenseless honest woman. Does anybody want to guess her fate had she not been armed? Maybe the same as the schoolteacher who was robbed and beaten to death in her home by three teenagers in Denver recently (Source: "The Denver Post," October 4, 1999)

POLICE KILL MAN IN HIS BEDROOM: It doesn't pay to be armed when the thugs who are kicking your door in are carrying badges. So learned Denver, Colorado man Ishmael Mena recently. But it didn't help him for long, since the police put eight bullets into him through the walls and doors of his bedroom when he attempted to defend himself from what he apparently thought were invading criminals (?). Most of the cops never saw him until after he was dead. Eight carsful of SWAT Team members were there to serve a "no-knock" warrant based on the unsupported word of a "snitch" that he had bought $20 worth of pot at this address. Turns out it was the house next door, but that didn't help Mena.

The cops spent the rest of the day trashing his home (after getting rid of his body) looking for drugs or other contraband. They found none. The victim was an honest father of nine who was working several jobs to support his large family, most of which were still in Mexico, where he sent money regularly. But no more. A bunch of "trigger-happy" cops made sure of that.

My only question in this is: Why couldn't they have withdrawn when they were fired upon and waited until he could reasonably be expected to know they were police since they were not in his direct line of fire? Did they HAVE to kill him? Or was it a "knee-jerk reaction" to the arrogant police attitude that anybody firing on them is "Dead meat?

There are lots of good cops out there. More, in fact, than there are this kind of "trigger-happy-kill 'em-for shooting-at-me" cops. Unfortunately, more and more innocent people are running into the latter rather than the former these days, with more and more federal bureaucrats being armed and called "law enforcement officers."
