This is my story of how My Little Pony began to be, and how greed can rob you of all that you love.

Once a long time ago in a land far a way from here, lived a young and beautiful enchantress named Sylvia. She lived high above the valleys, on a peak named Danger Mountain. Her home was so high up on Danger Mountain, that when cloud passed high above the valleys, the top of the mountain still could not be seen. However, when days were clear, as they often were, she surveyed the valleys and forests below her. All the land that she could see from her balcony high upon that cliff belonged to her.

She was often lonely upon that mountain. She lived alone on Danger Mountain with her little white pony. So she sewed many beautiful dresses to keep herself busy. Other days she went to the orchards to pick apples and other fruits for her meals. Though usually, she watched over her balcony to see the animals roaming through her land.

One day, young Sylvia stood looking from her balcony, as usual, feeling quite board, and lonely. Although the land before her was lush and beautiful, it seemed to be missing something special. As she bent over the railing, a butterfly landed upon her jet black hair. She shooed the butterfly away from her hair with her magic finger, completely unaware of what she was doing. Realizing too late what she had done, she spoke to the butterfly, "Little butterfly, may the valley that you touch be enchanted." So the butterfly fluttered down the mountain and landed on a clover in the valley just below Danger Mountain.

At this time a band of wild ponies wer galloping over a hill, heading into the valley. As they stepped onto the land, they changed from the dull brown they once were into beautifully colored ponies. All were different colors with different markings on them. They cantered around, enjoying the lush green land. They ate clovers, and kicked up their heels to creat small rainbows from the dew that was sprayed from their frolics.

The next day when Sylvia looked over her balcony, she saw the herd of wild ponies in her nearest valley. She was inspired by them, so she set out to see them. She hitched her little white pony to a cart, and made her way down the steep, tretcherous mountain. The moment her little pony stepped foot onto the valley, it suddenly became on of the little ponies. She was a little white unicorn with turquoise hair, and sparkling blue markings on her rump.

"You are beautiful little ponies. I traveled all the way down from the top of Danger Mountain to see all of you. Speak, and I will grant you each one wish," she called to them from her cart. The little ponies spoke, some of them wishing for wings, or some to be unicorns, others asked for other things. Sylvia was happy, and spent the rest of the day talking with her little ponies. Sadly however, the day grew into dusk. Sylvia grew tired and decided to hitch her little unicorn to her cart and go home.

As Majesty drove Sylvia home, they left the enchanted land. Sylvia was surprised to see that Majesty had not changed back into the plain white pony she once was upon leaving the valley.

The next morning, when Sylvia went to her little pony's stable, Majesty spoke to her, "Sylvia, I know that you have been my master for several years. But, you haven't yet granted my wish. I would truly like to be with my own kind." Sylvia understood. Without a word, she opened Majesty's stall, and held the world out to her. Majesty bolted out of her stall. She galloped a few paces, and stopped to look over her shoulder. Majesty gave a guilty look to Sylvia, then continued down the rocky path.

Sylvia fell to her knees, crying. She felt she had lost everything she had ever loved. For weeks she would stare down the road, hoping Majesty would return. After a while however, she resumed watching her little ponies from her balcony.

Then one cold Autumn day, Sylvia heard the drumming of pony's feet comming up the mountain path. "Sylvia!" Majesty cried, "I need to speak to you." Sylvia rushed to greet the little unicorn that was once hers. "I'm sorry that I didn't visit sooner. It is a very long way up here," Majesty pleaded. "You are forgiven my dear," said Sylvia confortingly. "I came her because we need your help. Summer is over, and winter is nearly here. we need shelter from the cold. We need a place to stay," pleaded Majesty. "My home is not big enough for everyone, but I can give you something to help. Wait here," sylvia said as she jogged up the steps to her home.

Sylvia went inside, and went through her drawers in a desk of her attic. When she came back outside, she had a little drawstring bag in her hands. Sylvia opened it and pulled out a magic wand. Then she spoke to the little white unicorn, "This magic wand will help you build things. I don't think there is enough magic in it to do much else, but you can have what is left of it. Take good care of it, I have had it since I was a young child. It is very special to me." "Thank you for everything Sylvia," Majesty said as she turned to gallop down the road.

That was the last time Syliva saw Majesty at her home. She watched them from her balcony for many years. She watched them build their castle. She also watched the crowning ceremony, and saw Majesty take her place as queen. She watched Majesty raise a family. She also watched the ponies go through hard times, like when a heavy snow took over the valley. For many years she watched them.

The ponies always made it through their trials. They now had the magic wand and the rainbow of light. Over the years they became more powerful than her, and their land more magical than her own. This began to stir jealousy in Sylvia. It also made her think, for the only way she could take back her magic was if she got rid of the little ponies.

The next summer, the little ponies were prepareing for their annual Apple Festival. This sickened Sylvia, as she watched from her balcony. She tried to think of ways to spoil the ponies fun. She thought of things ponies like to do. Suddenly, she sang in an evil sneer, "Ponies loved apples, p-o-o-i-isened apples!"

Sylvia went out to her orchard and gathered the tastiest looking apples she could find. She brought them back to her dwelling in wicker baskets. She slowly emptied them into her icy couldren. The poison began to seep into the apples as she began her wicked spell. The potion began to bubble, and turned a dingy shade of red. The smell of turpentine came from her icy pot, and it soon stung and blistered her nostrils.

She thought of her plan to kill the ponies with these poisened apples. She would replace their barrel of apples with the poisoned ones. These were the apples they would use for their apple pies, the apple bobbing contest, and many other apple goodies. "I must make sure that no one blames me for the unfortunate accidents that are about to occur, but I want to be there to see my progress," she said to herself.

She poured out the old potion, emptied the apples into barrels. She began another spell in her icy couldron. Cold steam swelled and rose above the magic potion as she cast several different things into her brew. She poured some frothy green liquid into a large pitcher, and she began to drink from it. She felt her knees buckle backward, and watched her hands become hooves. She dropped the pitcher on the cold stone floor. Her skin became as white as snow, her hair became the color of blood, and she grew a tail the same color. After her spell was finished, she stepped toward a broken mirror to admire her work.

She was beautiful. A long, flowing red mane and tail, contrasted by a body as white as freshly fallen snow. She had long black eyelashes, longer than any other pony's she had ever seen. Her eyes were as blue as topaz, and even more shimmering than before. But as she stepped away from the mirror, she screamed in horror. The marking on her rump was a black skull and crossbones. She cast several different spells with her magic, to try to change her marking, but it was no use. The eerie marking did not change.

"I'll have to cover this up, with a dress of some sort. Otherwise I might be questioned, or worse, they may think me as bad luck with the tragic events. I'll have to make a dress by midnight," she said aloud. When midnight came her dress was complete. A shimmering gown, blue to match her eyes. It glittered in the light of the moon that shown through her window.

Sylvia filled the old cart that Majesty used to pull, with the barrels of poisoned apples. She then hitched herself to the cart. Sylvia had to be extra careful not to rip her beautiful dress as she started down the steep, pebbly mountain road.

On her way down the tretcherous mountain, she thought to herself, "I'm so clever, those ponies will all be dead in no time at all." Not watching where she was stepping, she tripped, and stumbled over some rocks. She nearly tipped over the cart full of apples. She watched nervously as a few apples fell and tumbled down the mountain.

Gathering her wits, she got up, and said, "I must be more careful. No one will want bruised apples." So she started down the mountain path again. She became very dizzy, and started seeing double, after many winding turns down the mountain. She began to pull the cart zig-zag, and the cart started tipping from side to side. More apples were tossed out of the old wooden cart. She decided to sit for awhile, just until the world stopped spinning from her dizzy feeling. When she could see clearly again, she walked slowly down the rest of the mountain with the cart following behind her.

The pale green moon cast strange shadows on the earth below. "The moon looks very strange tonight. I wonder if the moon knows what I plan to do! Oh, I must not be silly. the moon cannot really know what I am doing. I must not stop for anything, not even green moons. I must hurry with my wicked doing." Sylvia was very paranoid.

She was finally down Danger Mountain and into ponyland. She began searching for the apple barrels that the ponies would use, so she could replace them with the poisoned ones. When she found them, she put the poisoned ones out, and placed the good ones in her cart. She pulled the cart of good apples near a cliff far a way, and pushed it off with one great shove.

When she was done, she walked all the way to Majesty's Dream Castle, and knocked on the giant drawbridge. Spike the dragon jumped out of bed and ran to the tower above. "Who goes there?" He shouted as regally as he could to her, for he was only a young dragon. She answered to him, "I came from far away, and I need a place to stay for the night. I'm sorry for bothering you so early in the morning." Spike ran down the steps and answered her request by dropping the drawbridge. "I'll get the queen," Spike said. He then hurried to her bedchambers.

When he came back out he led evil Sylvia to an open room adorned with banners. She stood on a woven rug while Spike motioned her to stay there. He ran out of the open room. Majesty, the queen stepped graciously into the room, which was the ballroom. She yawned, then asked Sylvia, "May I help you?" Sylvia replied as sweetly as she could, "Yes, I've traveled a great distance to participate in your annual Apple Festival. I'm sorry for such short notice. May I stay the night here?" Majesty answered, "Yes, what is left of it. You can stay as long as you need." Majesty called Spike to the ballroom. "Show her to our guest room." With that, she walked down the hall to her her room, her long robe flowing behind her.

Spike walked her up the stairs to a short tower, right next to princess Majesty's tower. "Good night," he said,"sleep well." He closed the door behind her.

The moon shone through her window, and onto a large mirror on a dresser. Below it was a small hand mirror, and a brush. She looked into the large mirror at her beautiful image as the light of the moon cast a strange glow upon her face. A tear rolled down her rosey cheeks. She started to feel sorry for the little ponies, but she pushed back her guilt. She climbed clumsily into bed. She was still not quite used to the form she cast herself into, but she soon fell asleep.

Morning came, and Sylvia woke up to the fresh smell of pancakes from the kitchen below her. She hopped out of bed and ran down the steps to the kitchen. She was very hungry, and the smell of warm pancakes made her stomach moan and grumble loudly. She saw the queen and little princess Majesty sitting at the table eating pancakes. Spike was cooking at the stove with a stone griddle, when queen Majesty said, "Well good morning far away traveler. I knew you would join us sooner or later. I didn't know if I should desturb you for breakfast, after your long wearisome travel," she then suddenly exclaimed," Oh my! you've slept in your wonderful dress, haven't you? Let me iron it for you, my dear." "No!" Sylvia replied sharply, then softened, "No thank you. I will just wear the wrinkles out. Thank you for being so nice though." Sylvia sat down at the table looking rather sheepish about her outburst.

Princess Majesty broke the silence by asking her mother, "Who is the pretty pony, mother?" "A traveler, from far away. She has come to see the Apple Festival." "what is your name, traveler?" asked little princess Majesty. Sylvia started to say her name, but stopped herself. She looked around for something to make a name out of. She saw the stone griddle on the stove, then answered, "Firestone."

"Oh what a pretty name," the queen commented. Then Sylvia, now Firestone, quickly changed the subject by asking queen Majesty, " When are you going to the Festival?" Majesty answered her, "Oh, I never go to those sort of things, but I do watch from my tower. Little Majesty does though. She will show you around." "Oh, no thank you. I'd like to go by myself," Firestone said a little worried. "alright then, my daughter will walk you down there, and you can go your seperate ways," queen Majesty offered. Firestone was satisfied with that.

Soon they were on their way. They left the castle and walked on the dusty path. The smell of carmeled apples, applesauce, apple butter, apple pies and other apple goodies filled the air. Fresh, warm apple pie was the most noticable.

"doesn't that smell good? asked princess Majesty, her eyes bright and delighted. "yes, it does," said Firestone in a wicked sort of way. Princess Majesty galloped off to the lake to play apple water polo. Firestone went off to the apple bobbing contest to see if everything was going as planned. She stood aside and watched the ponies bite into the luscious looking apples. Firestone thought to herself, "Those ponies will all be dead at sunset. Then I will have their powers to myself."

Firestone began to pass the apple bobbing contest, when a soft yellow pony began a conversation with her. "aren't you going to play stranger?" It was Posey who came up from the water tub. Her forelock was dripping. "I don't feel much like getting wet, said Firestone. "Oh, go ahead, It will be fun. That's why you came here," Posey said, trying to convince her. "well, I guess I'll give it a try," said Firestone. She thought if she humored her, she would shut up. "Oh, good!" Exclaimed Posey. Firestone plunged her head into the water, missing intentionally. She knew better than to bite into one of the apples. "I missed," she said acting dissapointed. Firestone started to leave, but Posey insisted, "Try again!" So, she plunged her head, but again came up with nothing. "I never was very good at these things," she said as she left. "Maybe you should come back later. Better luck next time!" "Thank you," Firestone sang in sarcasm. "You should try the pie eating contest," Posey advised her, "you can't possibly miss then!" "Eh, No, I'm not hungry." She said as she walked further away. "Well there must be something you can participate in," Posey said sweetly. "Well, I'll go look," said Firestone to try to please her. Then she grumbled to herself. "If she thinks she's going to get me to sink my teeth into those apples, she's crazy!"

Firestone walked over to a tree and sat beneath it. She sighed. She had time to think about what she had done. "They will all be dead by sunset," she said sadly. She began to regret what she had planned. It was already a long day, and Firestone laid her head down. She had meant to watch them all day, but instead she fell asleep. Now the sky had turned a lazy shade of orange, and the sun was just balancing on the horizon. Many of the ponies were feeling quite queezy. they started lying down on the soft pastel green grass. Winged ponies were falling out of the sky, and tumbling onto the earth below.

Now Firestone was waking up. and saw the little princess still awake, and very much alive. She walked over to the little baby pony, and exclaimed, "You didn't have anything!" "How did you know I didn't eat any?" she asked, with a surprised look on her face. ""A little bird told me," little Majesty joked. "I was busy playing games, and when I went back, everything was gone!" "Oh. All right. Now, If you will excuse me, I have something to take care of," she told Little Majesty, hurridly. She had plans to reverse the spell. "wait, I want to show you something!" Pleaded Baby Majesty. "Not right now!" Firestone yelled at her. Little Majesty began to cry, and pleaded once more, "It's the other ponies, something's wrong!" the little princess yelled back at her and tugged on her dress to try to get her attention as Firestone walked away. As she tugged, the shimmering dress ripped, and fell off, like a falling leaf onto the grass. It revealed her eerie marking to those around who were still slightly awake. They awed in surprise. Baby Majesty backed away, and screamed in horror, "Your marking is terrible! You couldn't have been born with that marking." "It is a curse, from the witch of the west forest. I made this dress to cover it up. I didn't want to frighten anyone." "Well, then, you better come with me. My mom will be able to fix this. She can do anything,"Baby Majesty said with confidence. "I hope you are right," Firestone mumbled. then she thought, "It couldn't hurt, I couldn't change it. Maybe she could."

She followed her into the castle. Princess Majesty found her up at the watch tower, spying on the picnic. "That is odd. Everyone must be tired out. They all seem asleep," queen Majesty was telling Spike.

"Mother, can you help? Firestone was cursed with this marking," Little Majesty asked her mother. Firestone turned shamefully to expose her side so the queen could see the horrid marking. "I'll see what I can do to reverse this curse. Follow me," queen Majesty ordered kindly. Princess Majesty and Firestone followed her into the throne room. She turned a torch beside her throne. The throne swung aside, to reveal a secret door that nobody outside knew about! They followed her down a winding stone staircase, lined with torches. It seemed to go on forever. They were finally at the bottom, where there was a small hallway, with two doors next to eachother. She started to unlock the door on the left with a brass key. Firestone asked nervously, "Where does the other door go to?" "The dungeon," replied Majesty, with no compassion in her voice at all. "Oh," Firestone said worriedly. Queen Majesty led them through a short set of stairs, and pushed aside a large, scarlet velvet curtain in the doorway. The room was well lit with torches, their shadows dancing on every wall. Majesty went to a large oak desk that stood against the wall. She opened a drawer, and pulled out the same pull string sack that Sylvia had given Majesty years before. "I have been saving this for just such an occasion," she said. "Firestone mumbled to herself, "There isn't enough magic in that to change me into a horsefly. How does she think she will change me?" "I can't guarantee anything, but I will try to use this," the queen said. "can't you use something else, like the rainbow of light? I've heard that works pretty well," pleaded Firestone, with a nervous grin. "No, I will try to use this first," Majesty said. Then she went on to say some magic words,"What has been done, now undo. Change this marking to what is true!"

Instead of changing the marking, it changed her back into Sylvia, who was crouched on all-fours on the dusty stone floor. Her hair was a mess, and her clothing was tattered. The princess stood on one foot, as if she had seen a mouse, and said, "Mama, change her back, she's ugly. She was prettier as a pony!" "Sylvia, you had better explain yourself. I have a feeling that you were up to no good," said the queen.

"You are right. I was a fool. I was jealous, and I wanted to have all of the magic to myself. So, I planned to take it back. I'm sorry. For once in my life I felt like I was part of something. Something special, I was not alone anymore. When I was on that mountain, I was alone and lonely. I thought that I would be happy if I had back what I lost, but I remember being just as lonely without you, when I had all my magic. What a fool I've been! Please forgive me, and have mercy upon me!" Sylvia said between sobs. She was wetting the cold stone floor with her tears.

Majesty thought for a moment, trying to figure out what she would do. then she thought of what her daughter said. She looked slyly at Sylvia, then she went to her oak drawers one more time. She pulled out a sparkling gold locket, shaped in a star. It was hung on a satin ribbon. She held the locket in her mouth, and with the wand between her knees, reared up. She said some words silently to herself. Right before their eyes Sylvia once again became Firestone, with an appropriate marking. However, she had no magic. Instead, it was captured in the star pendant. The queen gave the pendant to princess Majesty. "Take this pendant, my dear. Keep it safe," Majesty said to her daughter. "Mama, I don't think she will ever try to hurt us again. I think she has learned her lesson. I know that under all that their was a good person inside of her," the little princess said to her mother. Then she gave the pendant back to Firestone and said, "Please take good care of this, and be one of us. we love you Firestone."

Then, the little white pony, with her new marking broke into tears. "I'm sorry I made such a mess of things. Please, let's go to the Festival, the ponies may still be saved!" Firestone pleaded as she galloped up the stairs, and fled out of the castle. The queen and the princess followed. They arrived where all of the ponies were lying. She looked down at them. "How can this be? They are still breathing. They ate all of my poisoned apples. I made the spell last night, it had to be fresh! There could be no way that they can survive this. It is a miracle! Firestone exclaimed exitedly. Queen Majesty was laughing, and joyously she said to her, "You couldn't have done it at any better time!" "What do you mean? It had to be fresh, or the spell wouldn't work," Firestone looked quizzical at her. Majesty explained, "On the night of green moons, magic is weak. That is why the ponies went only into a deep sleep. It is also why you couldn't change your marking."

"Shall we leave them here?" asked Firestone. "I believe it would be best for them, if they were to sleep it off. Leave them alone. A little rest under the stars never hurt anyone," Majesty told her. "Should we tell them what I did?" Firestone asked sheepishly. "No Firestone. It will be our little secret. Tell them you have decided to stay here in Dream Valley, and we'll forget this whole thing ever happened," queen majesty winked at her.

Little Majesty tapped Firestone. She hung her head down so that little Majesty could whisper in her ear. "I won't tell anyone," she whispered. Firestone smiled at her. She began to feel even more at home, and feel like she belonged in this wonderful land every moment. she forgot her jelousy, and even forgot who she once was in time. Firestone and Little Majesty became good freinds, and had many more adventures in their land of pastel grasses.
