Sorry I didn't put up a review of this sooner it is just that I forgot I played it and found it to be a great game. Well Electronic Arts is known more for their simulation type games that make you feel like you inside the game with the pads on. Now I guess they have decided to try something new that will produce more sales. Obviously they saw how much money games like NBA Jam and NFL Blitz rake in and decided to make a game of their own. This is how NHL Rock the Rink got started.

Rock the Rink is a game unlike any other hockey game ever made. It features all of the NHL teams just like normal but it has them playing grind line style hockey. With the RTR players fighting more than they actually score goals. Since the game ends when a player gets 5 goals it's really not that hard. The fighting is great though. Not only can you have a slug fest but at the end you can do a finisher move on the guy you beat the crap out of. Sort of like a wrestling game.

Now on with the important stuff like gameplay. The game does have this too. It really feels loose and very good control all around. Of course it has all of the main modes but you don't start out with the NHL teams. You have to win them in tournaments with made up teams which can be fun. Until the game starts playing a little too rough and starts to cheat you out of goals. Which can be very frustrating but you can deal with it.

The graphics and sound are also a plus. The graphics aren't really the plus side of it but they get the point across and you can't really expect awesome graphics from a game like this anyway. But what really shines through is the sound. The announcer has just so much to say and he can even be quite funny sometimes which is great. This is definetly one of the best things in the game.

Overall RTR is a very sound game with lots of options to keep you playing. Even the muliplayer is very fun until your friend gets mad because you keep nailing him into the boards every 5 seconds! This would be a good investment for fans of NFL Blitz and others like it. If your not then just rent it first then think about buying it.
