Now we make our way to the New Jersey Devils who have also came out of some very hard games. But they pushed their way through the Eastern division and came to the Stanley Cup finals with desire to win it all for the town of New Jersey. New Jersey came out with one of the best records in the NHL and their first task was to defeat the Florida Panthers which they really didn't have a problem doing taking the series 4-0. Keeping the Panthers to a measly 6 goals throughout their 4 games. Next round the Devils would take on the Toronto Maple Leafs in which they were thought of as a underdog by some people. This series started out with the Maple Leafs taking the first game 2-1 in which most thought Toronto were the ones that would be moving on. But New Jersey battled back into it and won the series 4-2 and showed that they were a force to recken with. The Eastern Conference finals were next and they would take on their toughest opponents yet, the Philadelphia Flyers. The series started out with New Jersey taking the early lead winning the first game 4-1. But the Flyers would not fly away, they stayed and fought it out and won the next three games which included 2 games at New Jersey. All of these games were close and New Jersey was just not helping out Brodeur. New Jersey decided they wanted to win it so they went out and won the next three games with two of the games being Eric Lindros' return to the ice. The final game was close with Eric Lindros being taken out by Scott Stevens in the first period with a clean check. Finally in the third period with about a minute remaining and the Flyers just badgering Brodeur, the Devils got it down and scored one winning the game 2-1 and the series 4-3. Now the Devils are coming to the Stanley Cup finals looking to de- throne the defending Stanley Cup champions with their strong will and determination. Who will win these playoffs? Will it be the Devils or the Stars. The Eastern Conference hasn't had much luck in the finals in a while, Can the Devils change all of that? Or will the Stars reclaim their prize and become Stanley Cup champions for the second strait year? Who knows? All I know is that you have to watch to find out. This is Chris Hetrick signing out.
