WWF SmackDown is one of those games that comes along out of nowhere and revolutionizes the genre with originality and control. Since now all wrestling games have been strictly a sports game dealing with just wrestling while SmackDown get's into the deepest thoughts of a wrestler to make this game more of a soap opera. Which is basically what wrestling is. Wrestling games have been a hit for the last few years with titles like WWF Attitude and WCW Revenge which are good games but just don't cut it.

SmackDown features one of the best control systems put into a wrestling game with a one button special and all other moves taking no more than 4 buttons at a time. This is how it should be. It's like The Rock said, "I hated pressing 35 different buttons just to do the Rock Bottom!" I think The Rock knows what he's talking about since he is the People's Champion and hopefully after Wrestlemania, the World Champion.

Besides control SmackDown features over 35 wrestlers with all of their taunts and moves. With all of these wrestlers you just have to have matches for them to participate in. So the people at THQ put a lot of matches in. Here they are:

The only problems with the game are sound and create a wrestler which doesn't make that big of a deal anyways. It's just none of the wrestlers talk and there isn't a announcer which kind of sucks. The only sound you'll get are the wrestlers grunting in the ring, some elevator music during menus and the wrestlers entrance themes which are pretty good.

Even after these few put downs SmackDown is still the best wrestler on the market and it definetly gets my approval.
