Mother Aspect in Ireland. Associated with the cauldron, crows and ravens. Life, wisdom, inspiration, enlightenment.

The Crone

One aspect of the Triple Goddess. She represents old age or death, winter, the end of all things, the waning Moon, post-menstrual phases of women's lives, all destruction that precedes regeneration through her cauldron of rebirth. Crows and other black creatures are sacred to her. Dogs often accompanied her and guarded the gates of her after-world, helping her to receive the dead. In Celtic myth, the gatekeeper-dog was named Dormarth (Death's Door). The Irish Celts maintained that true curses could be cast with the dog's help. Therefore, they use the word cainte (dog) for a satiric Bard with the magick power to speak curses that came true.

Hecate

Greek Moon Goddess as in Crone or Dark Mother. Keeper of Mysteries, Often pictured as having the head of a dog, horse or boar. PLANTS: Willow, henbane, aconite, yew, oak, mandrake, cyclamen, mint, cypress, date palm, sesame, dandelion, garlic, onion.



Hera

Greek Goddess of Marriage. If hand fasting or some type of commitment is the issue, Hera is the Goddess to seek. Just remember that she has a vindictive side. PLANTS: Apple, Willow, Orris, Pomegranate, Myrrh.



Hestia

Greek Goddess of Home and Hearth. Building a house, remodeling or apartment hunting, Safety in the home and the family unit.



Horae

The Hours or Seasons. They were the guardian goddesses of Nature and Rain: Eunomia (Order), Dike (Justice), Capro (Fruit) and Irene (Peace), They ruled law, justice and peace, protected young people. Irene's Plant is Olive.



INANNA

Sumerian Goddess that later became known as Ishtar. She was the Queen of Heaven. Also the Goddess of Love, Procreation, and War. As Ishtar (in Babylonian Mythology) she was the daughter of Sin, and the Goddess of Sexuality; The Ambitious, Dynamic Goddess of Love and War.



ISHTAR

(Assyrian/Mesopotamian) As the star of the morning, Ishtar represented War. As the Star of the Evening, Ishtar represented Love and Sensual Pleasure. She was a perpetual Virgin even though she enjoyed sexual relations, because she regained her virginity every time she bathed in her special lake.



ISIS

Isis is an Ancient Egyptian Goddess probably known as one of the most famous Ancient figures to date. Isis is usually portrayed as a beautiful girl with a cats head. She may have yellow, black, white or glowing skin.

In many churches you my find images of the Black Madonna. These famous "Black Madonna’s" of the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches are statues of Isis with Heru converted to use as Mary and Jesus. Some of these statues are missing that arm that carried Bast the Cat Goddess. The Christians didn't like using the statues of Isis with the baby girl. The priestess of Aset were known for their erotic dance rituals. These were the forerunner or modern erotic dance and stripping.

There are many covens today devoted strictly to the worship of the Goddess Isis.

Also called Mania, Mana, Mene, Minne. Associated with ravens and crows. She was honored Lugnassadh. After a battle, the Irish would cut off the heads of the losers and called them Macha's acorn crop. Protectress in war as in peace; Cunning, sheer physical force, sexuality, fertility, dominance over males.

She was the wife of SHANGO, God of Thunder and Fertility. Her power is associated with Lightning, Tornadoes, Cemeteries, and Death. Oya is tall, stately, and an Amazon in battle. She is the Orisa of Power and Action. Every breath we take is the gift of Oya.



Persephone

Greek Goddess of the Underworld as well as Harvest. Daughter of Demeter PLANTS: Parsley, narcissus, willow, pomegranate.



Rhea

Greek Cretan Universal Mother or Great Goddess. Supreme Queen of Heaven; Great Goddess; The Mother. Goddess of plant life and fertility; inventor of the arts and magick. PLANTS: Myrrh TREES: Oak.



SEKHMET

Sekhmet is the Egyptian Goddess who was called "The Beloved of Ptah". She was usually pictured as having a woman's body with the head of a lioness, and seated on a throne. She is the Goddess of War and Battle. She was part of the Memphis Triad: She, as wife to PTAH, and their son NEFERTUM. She had many titles, such as: Goddess of Fire and Heat, Mistress of the Gods, Goddess of Vengeance, Lion Goddess, and The Mighty One of Enchantments.
