Dennis Thomas Roberts, 55, of Arnold, died peacefully July 25 at home, following a 10 month battle with cancer. Dennis was born January 29, 1958, in Los Angeles, CA to Thomas and Colleen Roberts. He graduated from James Monroe High School in 1976, and served briefly in the Army following which he moved to Lake Tahoe, where he held a variety of jobs. While in Lake Tahoe, Dennis met and married his first wife, Paula Fitch with whom he had his daughter, Heather Michele. Soon after Heather's birth, Dennis and his family relocated to the Severna Park area. After relocating, Dennis began his long and successful career in the field of finance, starting first in the automobile industry and transitioning to mortgages. Dennis took great satisfaction in his work, as he helped many to realize the American Dream of home ownership. While Dennis's marriage to Paula ended shortly after relocating to the East Coast, they continued their partnership in raising their daughter. In 2000, Dennis was introduced to Kathy Eiring and her daughter, Whitney. In December of 2002, Dennis and Kathy wed, and Dennis also became a father to Whitney Elizabeth. Growing up, Dennis was recognized as an outstanding athlete, excelling in baseball. As an adult, he enjoyed playing golf. A UCLA Bruins fan, Dennis followed college football and basketball. He maintained an interest in sports throughout his life, and supported his daughter, Whitney's athletic achievements. Dennis was committed to his family and friends, and enjoyed spending time with his daughters and granddaughter. He is predeceased by his brother, Michael, and parents, Thomas and Colleen. Dennis is survived by his wife of 12 years, Kathy Roberts; daughters, Heather and Whitney; and granddaughter, Joelle; his sisters, Mickie Quatro, Kathleen Zabalza, Maureen Colella, and Patricia Roberts; his brother Danny Roberts; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service for Dennis will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, at Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Rd., Severna Park. A reception will follow at Bay Hills Golf Club, 545 Bay Hills Drive, Arnold. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dennis's memory, to the Severna Park United Methodist Church.
