Fall of 2000 Trips

A few photographs taken during our Fall 2000 trips to Wisconsin and California.

First, Wisconsin.....

Spanning Interstate 80 near Kearney Nebraska, is the "River Road Memorial Arch".

Looking across the Mississippi river from the Iowa side. Taken from the Iowa Welcome Center off I-80 near Davenport IA.

No wonder they make a lot of cheese in Wisconson.....their cows are HUGE! This one lives in Plymouth WI. (That fence is not going to keep her in.)

This is a view of Lake Michigan just north of Sheboygan WI (about 12 miles from Plymouth). Slightly windy!

Part of the lake front in the city of Sheboygan. In the foreground is a swimming beach. (The name of this town sounds like it should be in Brooklyn rather than Wisconsin.)

This is a large crafts store located 3 or 4 miles outside of Plymouth. It is an old barn.....maybe they make more money with crafts than with dairy cows. With the price of cheese, I don't think so.

My sister's house located a couple miles out of town (Plymouth). It is a 100+ year old farm house which has been enlarged and modernized. I hate to think of what will happen to the flower gardens. She doesn't know a lick about gardening nor do either one of them have time with their busy schedules.

Their 14 year old daughter mowing the 1 acre of yard.....a chore she is assigned but hates. Can't really blame her because it takes about 2 hours to do...but she does a good job!

Now, for the trip to California.

This poor picture is of the Colorado Belle, our hotel in Laughlin NV. The water in the foreground is the Colorado river just below Davis Dam.

Looking upstream from our hotel to another casino (The Edgewater).

This small riverboat carries the bodies of heavy gambling losers to mid-stream and dumps them (kidding of course). Actually, it is a water taxi from one casino to another along the river.

The cotton bales are larger here than what I remember growing up in Oklahoma. This is near Wasco CA (Hwy 46). Want to make some Q-Tips?

In addition to growing cotton along Hwy 46 in the Wasco region, they also grow roses. Fields and fields of them....quite a colorful show.

More roses....some of the smaller size bush variety. Had a difficult time dragging Stella away from here!

Just a picture of the court yard of the Holiday Inn Express at which we stayed. Located at Santa Nella CA along I-5.

A view of an arm of Lake Berryessa which is located near Napa and Fairfield CA.

These 3 pictures show portions of the Air Force Museum located at Travis AFB near Fairfield, CA.
