TRAVELING CALIFORNIA

Some interesting and pretty sights of California that we have photographed and/or seen.

This first picture is of the San Francisco skyline from Alamo Square. Alamo Square is one of the most popular places for picture taking in the city because the skyline can be captured in the background of a row of wonderful Victorian homes...the "new" and the "old".

Another view of the skyline taken from the Presidio. The inactive army airfield (Crissy Field) is in the foreground.

And what is San Francisco without the "crooked" street, Lombard? This unusual city block between Hyde and Leavenworth Streets on Russian Hill is also a much photographed scene.

Crossing from San Fransicso to Marin County, we look back along the Golden Gate Bridge to see the city in the distance.

Near the coast north of San Francisco is a little village called Bodega. This village plus a larger town west on the coast called Bodega Bay, was the location where many outside scenes were made for the Hitchcock movie "The Birds". The church in the following picture was seen in a few scenes of the movie.

In north-central California, east of Redding, is Lassen Volcanic National Park. The picture below is of Lassen Peak, an extinct volcano within the park.

Far south of the Bay Area is the city of Pismo Beach and near there is one of the few beaches where vehicular traffic is allowed. The following picture shows some the types of vehicles driven up and down this long stretch of sand. We were in our car on the beach as well.

The following two pictures are of Yosemite National Park well known features.
