History of the S.A.B.A.

Formed in 1909, the Scottish Amateur Boxing Association (S.A.B.A.) are one of the founder members of both the A.I.B.A. (the world governing body for international boxing) and the E.A.B.A. (the governing body for European boxing).

Throughout the years many famous names have adorned the record books of the S.A.B.A. - Dick McTaggart, Ken Buchanan, Walter McGowan, Jim Watt, John McCormack & Billy Fisher to name but a few.

In more recent times Scotland has upheld the ability to show pride in their boxers by maintaining, at least to some degree, the prestigious records of our boxing greats. Since the inception of the British Empire Games and Commonwealth Games since 1930, Scotland has proudly carried home medals.
