History of Leviathan
Within this game, there is a divergence from canon history.
This is not widely known, but it is well understood by
the residents of Constantiople. At least by those
that claim membership in the Sunset Races.
[Excerpt from the Erciyes Fragments]
And [Ennoia] found a great warrior on the moonlit plains. He stood strong and tall. His eyes were keen. His spear was sharp. He was a masterful hunter and a formidable warrior. She lusted for him and she took his blood. For this, he was reborn to her as a dark childe. She taught him what she knew, even to the exclusion of her other childer.
Most jealous was Zapathasura, who had been her lover. He turned away, spurning her for all time and made a bargain with the gods to grant him power in exchange for his promise to ridding the world of the stagnant
and never-changing.
She named her new childe Leviathan. Leviathan took his lessons well. He learned everything she would teach him. He kept her attention on him to the exclusion of all his siblings. He learned everything that she, and everything that others, would teach him. Soon, he rivaled his sire in power, but rivaling was not enough. He sought more.
Leviathan formed a plan. He took Ennoia out hunting deep in the caves. When he saw that they were deep inside the earth, he took her to battle. The fight lasted many nights, but finally Leviathan bested his
sire. He drank of her blood and ate of her flesh. He took all of the power into himself, but the power twisted him. He became an ever changing creature, but with that, he also became even harder to kill.
Ennoia's blood cried out to her children. They ran to defend their Dark Mother. Eventually, his brothers and sisters found Leviathan. They all battled him, but try as they might, they did not have the power to
destroy him. He had learned much and well. The battle raged, but they only had power enough to send him into a deep slumber.
So it is that Leviathan sleeps still. Deep beneath the city that is now Constantinople. One day, he will rise again. One day, he will be nigh impossible to put to rest. So it is written.
