Aeons

A collaberation of Wolf and Pravus

Origins: Long ago the Shadowlings were created by a coalition of the mortal races known as the Shakari. The Shakari themselves were founded in the name of balance, forming a third power to match that of the dieties and dragons. They intended the Shadowlings to help with that enforcement of balance and so a counter to the Shadowling was created as well, the Aeons.
While the Shadowlings were forged with demonic essance to become stealthy combatants, the Aeons were blessed with the essance of angels creating the noble warriors. The two were intended to work in harmony, the Shadowlings seeking out imbalances and quietly disposing of them while the Aeons deffended and cared for thier mortal charges. When the fall of the Shakari came about, it was the end of thier creations as well.
In the ensuing chaos the Aeons were hunted to extinction, and nearly followed by the Shadowlings. A select few of the Shadowlings survived, gradually rebuilding thier clan and bloodline as they diligantly carried out thier duties. Of the Aeons and Shakari, all was forgotten.

Recent History: Kyra Nym, grandaughter of Pravus, was dispatched to trace a potentially useful artifact. She joined with a band of heroes in Baldur's Gate, setting off with the common goal of halting an invasion from the outer planes.
During the course of the journey the ancient Shakari city was unlocked, a vast outplane itself meant to house the races of multiple planes if needed in times of danger. At the gate two statues were encountered still holding some of the old Aeons's power.
The stautes imbued Kyra and Myrissa, a cleric of the universe, with their power giving birth to the first two Aeons in over four millenia. Much of the powers of Aeons are still unkown but it's clear initially why Shadowlings and Aeons never got along beyond a reluctant and resentful cooperation.

Appearance: Aeons are typically athletic in build and human-looking. Skin tones range the gammut of human skin colors though with a goldn sheen giving them an unearthly look. Eyes are usually silver or gold, as is thier hair though other colors are possible. Just as Shadowlings have a habit of giving those around them a foreboding feeling, Aeons are typically followed with an air of ease and serenity.

Temprament: Aeons are ultimately helpful beings seeking to aid those around them and convert problematic individuals. An Aeon would attempt to give a demon a chance to surrender and even convert before killing the beast. This does not make them naive. Aeons understand the concept of deception and exercise good judgement whenever possible. Aeons are patient, kindhearted, and tollerant of all. Violence is a last resort against an imbalance that must be removed.

Abilities: Aeons manipulate and project light just as Shadowling toy about with Shadows. Unlike the Shadowlings however, Aeons seem to only be able to create within their immediate personal space.
Aeons have the option to 'consume' an item they hold or wear. You can imagine Kyra's outrage when her entire inventory vanished into a soft glow. Items so destroyed can be recreated at will in the Aeon's possesion. Only exact replicas can be created, a limitation Shadowlings do not possess.
Armor, clothes, weapons, whatever created by the Aeon are of light energy. This energy makes them unbreakable by physical force. Colors can be changed and the light dampened as desired to make the items appear normal or as brilliant auras of light.
The light of an Aeon burns evil and shadow-based creatures on contact same as holy fire. Magical darkness is dispelled on contact also, including the Shadowling's manipulation powers. The downside to this is the range. An Aeon may very well absorb and create a set of bow and arrows however, as soon as the arrow leave contact with the Aeon it vanishes. AEONS CANNOT CREATE PROJECTILE WEAPONS.
Like thier Shadowling cousins, Aeons heal by fire, and suffer twice the damage from ice and cold. Thier regeneration is impressive. Wounds from non-magical damage heals as fast as it's inflicted, rendering them immune to all but a guillotine and similar devices. Magical attacks do normal damage and heal at a normal, mortal rate. Given Kasuria's level of magic, this is quite a concern for brash Aeons.
As a final note, Aeons walk a fine line between light and shadow. The Shadowlings policed their clan brutally, executing members that strayed from the code too far. Aeons have no need of such actions. An Aeon whom becomes unlawful and strays from the paths of good and balance will soon find his powers fading away, leaving just a human behind.
