Joseph Skaggs 1777-1831 is my line, born in Virginia and then moved on to Indiana.
Searching for ancestors of Harden/Hardin Scaggs who lived in Wayne County, V/WV in 1860. He was born in KY according to the 1860 census but some other
sources suggest Virginia. He was married to Mahulda jane Christian, d/o Alexander and Elizabeth Christian. Their children were Isaac Newton Scaggs
I (b. 1851), William Eldridge, George Henry, California, Mary Elizabeth, Allen and Belgora. Harden died between January 22, 1866 and March 28, 1867
according to legal documents.
Descended from Old Henry the Long Hunter, through his son Solomon, and Solomon's daughter Nancy who married my gggrandfather Thomas Wadsworth.

Always searching for parents of Aaron Skaggs b abt 1795.
My gr grandmother was Martha Mattibell (Skaggs) McGlocklin dau of Wm.
Henry Harson Skaggs who was the son of Russell Skaggs and he was the son
of Aaron & Susan (Meredith) Skaggs. Now Susan is the dau of Joseph &
Nancy (Skaggs) Meredith and Nancy is the dau of Charles & Lucy
(Thonpson) Skaggs.

My Skaggs line is very short. My gggrandmother was Rhoda Skaggs born in
Tennessee 2Jan1814. My first record of her is her marriage to Lewis Vailes
in Orange Co Indiana 8March1835. The application states that her step
father signed for her but gives no name. She and Lewis moved to Daviess Co
Indiana where they lived until his death. I have no record on hers. I have
been searching for her parents for many years.

Sherman b.1844 Greene Co., Ill. Martha's parents were Aaron Skaggs b. 1807,
Grayson Co., Ky m.? Jernima Thomas b. 1807 (Ky. or S.C.). So far we are not
certain of the parentage of Aaron. Some think it was Richard Skaggs and some
think it was Aaron Skaggs Sr. We are still trying to find data of proof.

Louisa married William GRAVATT 10 Sep 1839 in probably Edmonson, KY. William was born abt. 1812 in Indiana or Green, KY. Their son, William M. GRAVATT, my great-great grandfather was born 10 May 1845 in Green, KY and died 27 Sep 1914 in LaRue, KY. He married Marthy S. BEWLEY/BULEY on 24 Oct 1894 in LaRue, KY. Marthy was born Aug 1872 in Green, KY and died 7 Dec 1904. If anyone has any information to help me prove the next generation from William SKAGGS back, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has any GRAVATT/BULEY information, it would be greatly appreciated. It seems that he GRAVATT/BULEY lines have almost disappeared.

Henry and Ruthy's dauther, Mary Alice Skaggs was born 20 Aug 1862 in Green, KY and died 27 Mar 1932 in Hardin, KY. She married John Thomas FARMER on 29 Nov 1878 in Green, KY. John was born 28 Sep 1855 in Taylor, KY and died 16 Apr 1893. I would love to be able to have proof of Stephen's father.
