Aaron

Aaron David Berg

June, 1947 to July, 1972

Aaron was the second oldest child of David and Jane Berg and their first son.

It was obvious from the beginning that Aaron was different. He always had a different way of seeing things and seemed to live in two worlds. David didn't quite know what to think of it, then Grandmother received a vision for Aaron. She saw a hand with four fingers and a thumb...Aaron was like the thumb: different, but very needed.

As a child Aaron learned to play the ukelele and later on, the guitar. We were all always amazed when he'd borrow a guitar...from a right-handed player...and start playing it...LEFT handed! Upside down and backwards. Wow!

His unique and unusual songs preached some pretty strong sermons and trying to follow along and sing with him wasn't easy because he sang them different almost every time! Being an iconoclast, Aaron did this, I think, to keep us all out of a rut.

He could quote so many verses that I would wonder at times where he got the time to memorize so much! It was amazing. Even as he gave a prophecy, he'd quote the verse reference so we knew that it was pure word coming at us.

Everything Aaron did, from talking to singing, or even witnessing was unique. I have my own stories about things I experienced with Aaron, but one of my favorites is one that I heard from someone else. While out witnessing, a brother told me that he'd gone out with Aaron that day. Aaron, as usual, was singing one of his songs to a guy on the street. The guy wasn't paying much attention, but when Aaron finished singing, he heard this clapping coming from a balcony about two floors up! Two people there had been listening to him singing. So, Aaron, walked over to the apartment building, layed down on the ground (so he could look up better) and started singing to them and telling them about the Lord. I don't know if they got saved, but I'm sure they never forgot the experience.

As the years passed Aaron became more and more humble; more and more giving. One of his favorite classes had been "Mountain Men", something he wanted to live with all of his heart.

Finally, while he was in Switzerland, he got his chance. One afternoon, while climbing Mont Blanc, he went to be with the Lord.

God bless you, Aaron. We still sing your songs and they still move us. Thank you for the love.
