Nina and I were the best of friends for 5 years before her sudden Home-going due to leukemia, at the age of 39.
Nina had been won to the Lord and to the Family around 1980 in Germany. From there she went to Greece to help with "Music with Meaning" as a childcare worker. Later, when the MWM ministry started taking off in other languages, she went to Brazil to help with "Musica com Vida", also working in childcare. She lived and worked in Peru as a full-time teacher where she met and married Peruvian Pablo (see Pable del Campo memorial).
Her main ministry in the Family had always been child-care as she had a special way with children. She would not only teach them, but really connect with them and be their friend. For many years afterwards, she received letters of appreciation and love from her former students.
Nina was a beautiful example of interaction with the children. She treated them gently and respectfully, hearing them out, reasoning with them and giving them the benefit of the doubt when things would come up. - She would use her free times to study child-care material and to prepare fun activities to do with the children.
She made witnessing outings fun for the kids, having the vision to train them as future missionaries. Nina herself had a real missionary's heart and would never pass up an opportunity to encourage people with a smile, give her personal money to a beggar, to help a blind person cross the street, to collect clothes for the gardener's kids. She made every visitor to our Home feel welcome and she always had plenty of tracts on hand to give out whereever she went.
For many years, Nina's health was delicate, nevertheless she truly lived the verse, "No greater love hath any man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (I John 3:16) She tirelessly poured out to others of her love, time and strength.
She had a gentle and graceful manner about her and would always "stretch out her hands of compassion" towards anybody in need that would cross her way, be it a sheep or a Family member.
One image that is deeply ingrained in my memory, is her radiant smile. I don't remember a single morning that she wouldn't greet people with a warm smile and a big hug.
Nina's teaching talents weren't confined to the classroom, but many times she would share her knowledge while "on the go" or at meal times.
She had a gift for making praise-times fun and getting everybody involved. Just one more manifestation of her passionate love for Jesus.
I'd like to include a beautiful prophecy Jesus gave me for her (and about her) a few months before her Homegoing:
Prophecy for Nina Due to health problems, Nina was never able to have children of her own. She had the opportunity to adopt a baby boy almost 5 years ago whom she showered with as much love as few kids on earth have the priviledge to receive. (click on this link to read about Nina's "miracle" Baby)
Before undergoing an operation to have her uterus removed 2 years ago (in 1999), the Lord gave me an encouraging prophecy for her:
(Jesus speaking): "While I walked on earth, there were times when I wished I could have My own chidren. Oh, how I loved to see the sparkles of a baby's eyes, how I loved to touch their chubby cheeks, how charming and heart-warming it was when they would smile at Me. Yes, I wished for children of My own while I was on earth. There is no greater joy than the pure sincere love of a child's heart. I had no children of My own, yet they were all My children. I was so richly blessed! Each child that crossed My way and needed the Father's love was Heaven-sent.
"With each child that would come across My path, each child that would look at Me with a deep searching look in their eyes, I would take them in My arms, I would sit them on My lap and tell them of My Father's love. Each of these children are now with Me in Heaven and I can enjoy them forever. Each of the children you have led to Me will be with you in Heaven and you will be able to enjoy them forever.
"You are richly blessed with many children as few women are on earth. For great has been your love for the many children who needed Me and for this I am well pleased, well pleased that My bride has had such a tender, motherly love. You will be a queen mother in Heaven in My Heavenly courts and your chidren shall be laughing and singing and dancing."
A few weeks before her Home-going, after having been diagnosed as having leukemia, Nina still kept on being the radiant sample of the Lord's love to people.
During her time in the hospital, with hardly the strength to whisper, she kept on smiling and witnessing to those around her. The nurses and doctors would flock to her to receive that special touch of the Lord's Spirit.
After she passed on, in a prophecy that was sent from Mama's home, the Lord said about her....
(Jesus speaking): "She is happy and young, feeling better than she has ever felt in her entire life. She misses you and those that she was close to on earth, but she wants to help you from This Side. She's one of your advocates in Heaven, a helper on this side of the veil...She wanted to do so much while she was on earth, she wanted to help so many people. She had a heart of love--always giving, always loving, always caring, but her weak body of flesh limited her love. Now she's free--free to love, free to help, free to soothe the wounds of those who are in pain, free to help mend the broken heart of those who feel loss. She's free to do My will. She's free to help others. I had need of her on This Side, because I have a special job for her to do. But she is still close to you. Even if you don't always sense her, you can know that she'll be with you when you call because I've promised it.
"Keep pressing forward to the victories that I have in store for you. I have wonderful things awaiting you Here in Heaven, as well as on earth--rewards for your giving, sacrificing, dedication and willingness to pay any price for Me. It won't be long until you're Here with Me and those that you love, and what a glorious day that will be!"
