Environmentally Aware Wiccans
Welcome to the Environmentally Aware Wiccans web site. We, as Wiccans, say we are "Earth-Friendly" and "Environmentally Conscious" but how often does that ring true? Well, you don't have to be Wiccan to be Eco-Friendly, nor do you have to be Eco-Friendly to be Wiccan. However, for those of us who ARE Eco-Friendly, or who want to be... this site is fo YOU.
Here I'm going to try to supply you with all the information you will need. I realize that many of us say "There's only so much one person can do" and "I can't have that big of an effect on things.." Well, hopefully, here I can show you that "One grain of Sand can tip the Scales" and that you CAN have an effect on things!
I started being "Environmentally Aware" because one of my friends was. He started being Environmentally Aware because one of his friends was. One person can inspire another, who inspires another... and before you know it, you're whole BLOCK or APARTMENT COMPLEX is inspired in one way or another.
Every Bit helps. BELIEVE me... Even if you just recycle 3 pop cans a week, and nothing else, that's 156 pop cans a year that don't end up in landfills. That's 156 pop cans a year that don't have to be made from scratch. So that's ANOTHER 156 pop cans that don't end up in landfills. So simply recycling 3 pop cans a week, you've kept 312 pop cans a year out of the landfills! And you thought it wouldn't make any kind of a difference! Now if you inspire another person, who inspires another person.. the numbers keep growing!
Never underestimate the power of GREED.... You can use it to your advantage (especially when trying to inspire others). If you drink a lot of pop, and you take your cans in to be recycled, then you get money back. It's not a lot... Where I live it's 25 cents per pound of cans (and if you don't crush them FLAT, that's about a large garbage bag worth..) However, if you take in a bag a week, and save the money in a jar, you'd end up with $12 at the end of the year. Not much, but it buys a membership to an Environmental group, pays one month of electric bills (assuming you're Environmentally aware there as well, and I'll give you more tips on that on the following pages), rents a weekend worth of movies, fills up a gas tank... Well, you get $12 for trash, and can use it however you want, PLUS you are helping the environment. What more do you need?
These pages will go up, as time allows me to work on them. Please try not to print things out. Either copy and paste information to your harddrive and refer to it there, Copy and paste to an email to send it to someone, or better yet, just direct them here with a link in an email. That way, we save paper, which saves trees. :)
So in the meantime, while there isn't alot here, please bookmark these pages and refer back to them often. :) Easy, huh?
