NCWG INVITES FIBER ARTISTS
LIVING IN WYOMING,
NEBRASKA, KANSAS, OKLAHOMA, NEW MEXICO, ARIZONA, COLORADO, and UTAH TO
PARTICIPATE IN A JURIED EXHIBIT FIBERCELEBRATION 2003
MAY 31-JUNE 22, 2003
All fiber media are welcome
including spinning, weaving, dyeing, basketry, sculpture, felting, quilting,
papermaking, knitting, beading crocheting, textile and embroidery.

Non-refundable entry fee per item:
NCWG members
$12.00
Non-NCWG members $15.00
Each artist may submit up to three (3) items. Make checks payable to NCWG. Mail your slides, check, entry form, #10

NOTIFICATION
Upon notification of acceptance, items should be
shipped to Art Center of Estes Park in a self-addressed, reusable container,
with a check for return shipping and insurance, payable to NCWG. PLEASE SEND BY UPS. Label all wrapping materials for return to
you. Please do not use Styrofoam peanuts! Hand delivered pieces should be in a protective
container. The juror and the Art Center retain the right to disqualify any work
from the exhibit that is unacceptable or that differs greatly from the slide.
Work must be ready for hanging ordisplay and where necessary with directions
for installation of piece. The Art Center requests that all art-work be for sale. The Art
Center will retain 40% commission on all sales.
SLIDE SUBMISSION
Entrants must submit two (2)
slides
per item. One
should be a full view
and the other a truly close up detail view of the work.
* Only 35mm slides that fit a standard
projector will be judged. PLEASE! Mark slides with only a dot in the top
right hand corner to indicate right side up and your item #, i.e., 1, 2, 3.
Names on slides are removed to maintain anonymity; then given a number. Slides should be in a plastic sheet with the
sheet marked with your name and address. Slides not accepted will be returned
(reason for legal SASE and extra postage).
Slide submission must be postmarked by February 14, 2003.
*Spinners may submit two yards of handspun yarn.
RETURN
Hand delivered juror accepted pieces
may be picked up at the Art Center,
June 23, 2003 12-4:00PM. Shipped
pieces will be returned during that week
AWARDS
Cash and material will be awarded at
the juror's discretion. Awards
will be
presented during the opening reception,
May 16, 2003 at 6:00PM.
LIABILITY
Waiver: All entries will be handled with utmost care. I understand the submission of my art work automatically waives any claims for damage or loss against the ART CENTER OF ESTES PARK, its employees, assigns or Board of Directors.
CATEGORIES
Dimensional-household pieces meant
to be used, i.e. rugs, coverlets, table
linens, handspun yarn. If handspun,
state use.
B. Non-Functional Two Dimensional-
flat pieces emphasizing
decorative
or expressive ideas
C. Non-Functional Three Dimensional-
pieces designed to occupy space,
emphasizing decorative or
expressive
ideas
D. Wearable-garments or yardage design-
ed to be worn. If yardage, state use.
Judging will be based on
aesthetics,
originality, craftsmanship, suitability of
technique and materials. If
functional,
the piece will also be judged on its appropriateness
to purpose. Juror reserves the right to reclassify the piece if needed.
All pieces must be less than 4ft. x 5ft. when hung.
JUROR
Jane Patrick is an ardent
enthusiast of both the art and craft of textile with interests in both
contemporary and traditional work.
Between 1981 and 1992 she worked at Interweave Press where she was
editor of HANDWOVEN magazine, books and Design Collections. She currently is sales and marketing manager
at Schacht Spindle Co. teaches classes in rigid heddle weaving and contributes articles to HANDWOVEN
ELIGIBILITY
Any fiber artist may submit up to three (3)
items. All items must be original, not
executed under supervision, and must have
been completed within the last two years.
We will return misrepresented items.
