OFFICIAL PRESS-RELEASE ISSUED BY MSO 4/21/99:

Statement from Sascha  K., formerly KMFDM regarding
media reports linking the band to the "Trenchcoat
      Mafia" website in Littleton, CO:

"First and foremost, KMFDM would like to express
their deep and heartfelt sympathy for the parents,
families and friends of the murdered and injured
children in Littleton," says Sascha K., founder of
KMFDM.  "We are sick and appalled, as is the rest of
the nation, by what took place in Colorado yesterday."
"KMFDM are an art form--not a political party.
From the beginning, our music has been a statement against
war, oppression, fascism and violence against others",
      emphatically states SASCHA.
"While some of the former band members are German
as reported in the media, none of us condone any Nazi
      beliefs whatsoever."

KMFDM IS DEAD- LONG LIVE MDFMK !

AFTER FIFTEEN YEARS OF EXISTENCE AND OVER THIRTY RELEASES, KMFDM HAVE DISBANDED ON JANUARY 22ND, 1999. MASTERMIND AND FOUNDER SASCHA KONIETZKO RECENTLY SIGNED HIS NEW BAND MDFMK TO REPUBLIC / UNIVERSAL RECORDS.

(The following is an excerpt from "KMFDM-The Last Word", an Interview w/ Sascha K.)

Interviewer: Who besides you is MDFMK ?

Sascha K: MDFMK are Tim Skold and I. Skold is perhaps best known for his self-titled '95 full length release on RCA . Skold's first appearance in KMFDM was as a guest-vocalist on the track"Anarchy" from KMFDM's 1997 "SYMBOLS" album. He joined KMFDM for the '97 Tour and has since played a key role. Skold and I were the driving force behind the production of KMFDM's last album "ADIOS". He is originally from Sweden. I guess with me being born and raised in Germany, that makes MDFMK a 'real' Euro-band...again.

Interviewer: What about En Esch and Guenter Schulz, will they be part of MDFMK or what will they do?

Sascha K: They will not be in MDFMK. That's all I know at this point. I have no idea what they'll end up doing, I can't speak for them...

Interviewer: Let's back up for a second, did the fact that "ADIOS" was the last album you had to deliver to fulfill your contractual obligations with Wax Trax Records influence it's outcome ? Is it true that this will be the last and final KMFDM release ?

Sascha K: Clearly this was to be the last recording for Wax Trax, hence the title "ADIOS". However, it soon became apparent to me that KMFDM had expired and it was time for a change. The situation both with the band and the label had reached a point where I decided to move on instead of wasting more time and energy in a stalemate. In spite of considerable resistance,
Skold and I were hell bent on not compromising and instead make "ADIOS" the best KMFDM album ever, the crowning glory of an era... A 'posthumous' gift to all of KMFDM's loyal fans.

Interviewer: Can we expect a tour behind "ADIOS" ? Any plans for singles or remix releases ?

Sascha K: No, this is the end of KMFDM as you know it. I am 100% focusing on MDFMK.

Interviewer: Does the name change have anything to do with an ownership issue regarding the rights to use the name KMFDM or something like to that extent ?

Sascha K: Absolutely not. The name KMFDM is a registered Trademark that I own. After 15 years so much deadweight has accumulated that I felt the need for 'Tabula Rasa', a new, clean slate, a fresh beginning.

Interviewer: After the initial shock, there is a beauty to your concept. Where other bands start over as "formerly known as so-and-so", by reversing your name you connect the past and...

Sascha K: Yes, MDFMK will continue where KMFDM left off. MDFMK is a re-invention, a shedding of the skin, with newfound agility and motivation the metamorphosis is complete and nothing stands in the way anymore.

Interviewer: What are your plans for the future ? When can we expect to hear MDFMK ?

Sascha K: We are currently in the process of producing the first MDFMK full length album due to be released in the fall of this year. Collaborating with a major record company will open doors to new creative dimensions and permit us to focus on our art rather than to constantly fight limitations. It is time for us to do some real damage...

The future of music and art must not belong to the mediocre !
