Baron Rangvold, "Katie" **********************************************************************************************
Hello! As I was again browsing the Internet in search of my favorite topic ~ descendant's of Skippa Rope, I found your website and was pleased to read your story! 5 years ago I met and fell in love with a sorrel Paint mare who just seemed to stand apart from the rest at this particular farm. (I used to breed Hunter-type Paint horses and this farm was the stallion's home.) With her heavier-set body and finely chiseled face with large cheekbones, little ears and expressive eyes, she was very different from the Thoroughbred look and hot temperament of the Paints I raised, and it was absolutely love at first sight. It was also the beginning of the end of my chosen breeding program, because I now could not get Katie off my mind. At the time, Wiescamp / Skipper horses were completely unknown to me...I only knew that she was stunning to look at, had a wonderful personality and I was now a bit disatisfied with my mares waiting at home. I then set about trying to figure out what it was about Katie that attracted me so....it went way beyond being colored. I have now become so familiar with this lineage, and remember how excited I was when I found my first photos of Skippa Rope...the last name on her papers and the first place I started my search. I now gaze at Katie every day and note the same characteristics in her that have made me so enjoy seeing photographs of other horses along this line. I love all breeds of horses, but I just can't get enough of this particular look....a beautifully put-together muscular horse with the dainty almost feminine expressive face....and faithful, "never give up" attitude.
My little girl was sitting with me looking at your photographs, when suddenly she said "look mommy, there's Katie!!" And there was the photo of Rope's Impressor. I have a photo of Katie, that is identical to this photo right down to how she happens to have her feet placed and her head positioned....the only difference being the placement of her sorrel markings!! I hope you don't mind but I attached some photos of Katie (the one I mentioned is in my disk "photo album" somewhere, not sure which one as I have so many now!!!
I enjoy reading about these horses, and have had the pleasure of email & photo exchanges with others, all of whom seem to have the same story/description of their horse's loyalty and faithfulness to them, besides their beauty. My Katie will be with me til her life is over, and I look forward to viewing your website again in the months to come. Thanks for reading my letter and have a wonderful holiday!
Sincerely,
MaryBeth and Katie
