With the close of Square's recent Jump Festival, two new characters have entered the scene of Final Fantasy X. Kitt and Hayate are the tentative names at the moment, and both appear to be playable, although nothing has been confirmed. These two new characters bring up the tally to a total of five; Yuna, Ryugo, Tide, Kitt and Hayate.
In other news, the Final Fantasy X soundtrack is almost in the completion stage of its long journey. According to our sources, Final Fantasy X itself will be released in a short three months. For those of you who have felt the anguish waiting for your PS2, you would know how this wait feels to us importers and Japanese gamers. Anyway, as far as the soundtrack goes, the Square legend, Nobuo Uematsu is back to show those other fanboys what a fearsome sound-blaster the PS2 is. The song itself hasn’t been revealed yet however the vocal artist that will accompany Uematsu-san is Okinawan folk singer Rikki.
Now for the latest news regarding Square’s FF flick. Jun Aida of Square Pictures, revealed in a recent interview that Square has plans to release a special PS2 release of their movie, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. As you would expect, the movie is not a game, just a DVD meant for watching. That’s not all, the DVD will also contain special interactive segments to cleanse your outer soul. Aida also added that the PS2 DVD would also featured alternating camera angles and users will be able to edit certain clips of the movie in real-time. Well, probably not with the graphic quality of the actual film, but hey, it’s a good start.
