Kojima Stabs the Xbox
.

The Metal Gear Solid instigator claims that the Xbox isn't the all powerful thrust that Microsoft claims

Hideo Kojima, one of the most prominent and respected developers in gaming history, openly stated his claims about the Xbox not being nearly as powerful as Microsoft had stated. In a recent interview with MSNBC, Kojima had confirmed that the differences between the PS2 and Xbox in terms of power and performance aren't as distinct as a typical gamer would think.

"I don’t think that Xbox is that much better than PlayStation 2. Other than little improvements in graphics, I don’t expect much difference," said Kojima-san.

However, despite the stab against the Xbox, it wasn't difficult for Kojima to say that the graphics involved in Metal Gear Solid X for the Xbox will have slight improvements from its PS2 counterpart as he says in his next quote.

"You will definitely get better graphics with Xbox. With PlayStation 2, we had to create our own shadows with the software. With Xbox, the machine creates it for us, so we can use that little extra power for effects and stuff. So the Xbox version will probably look a little bit better."

In the eyes of Japanese developers, it became apparent at the Spring Tokyo Game Show that what the Xbox had shown off hadn't surpassed the PS2 to the extent that many gaming fanatics had previously thought. As some of you may recall, they were not impressed. The fact that many gaming critics still say that Final Fantasy X was the best looking game at the show is another stab in the back for the Xbox. The only thing to do now is wait and see what happens at E3 in Los Angeles late next month.
