People who enjoy cooking often like to bring special treats to share
with coworkers and colleagues. Here, you can find recipes for some of the culinary creations that
have appeared here in the ER break room and been cheerfully devoured by whomever was on duty that day.
1 2/3 C granulated sugar
1/2 C (1 stick) butter or margarine
2 tablespoons water
2 bars (2 ounces each) unsweetened baking chocolate, broken up
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/3 C all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 chopped nuts (optional)
1. Heat sugar, butter, and water in medium saucepan just to boiling, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add baking chocolate; stir until melted.
2. Stir in eggs one at a time until incorporated. Stir in vanilla. Add flour, baking soda and salt; stir well. Stir in nuts, if you use them. Pour into greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
3. Bake in preheated 350-degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky. Cool in pan before cutting into squares.
4. Serve to ravenous coworkers. Stand well clear.
