I bet you thought that Ioan was only in his famous "Is anyone alive out there?" scene. Well, you were so wrong it isn't even funny.
Upon my viewing of "Titanic" on the anniversary of the sinking, we realized he is throughout the film, though usually in the backround. It was alot of fun trying to spot him--like playing Where's Waldo? And I thought others might enjoy playing this game also. If you want to make the game extra fun, you can throw in some kind of addictive food like candy, or your favorite alcoholic drink and every time you manage to spot the elusive Lowe, you can treat yourself.
Have fun trying to find him! Oh and for all you screaming "WEIRD TITANIC FREAK BET YOU SAW IT 100 TIMES", I assure you I did not. I can count on one hand the total times I've seen it. So there. Phhbbbbttt!
Where's Officer Lowe?
A home viewing guide
1. Officer Lowe's very first closeup is in the "I'm the King of the World!" scene. You will see him hand Captain Smith a cup of tea.
2. Officer Lowe is spotted next lurking in the background, when Jack first sees Rose. This one is really hard to see!
3. He is not seen again until Officer Lighttoller strolls onto the bridge to talk to Captain Smith("Like a millpond...)...he in the foreground, next to the wheel and appears to be peering into a compass or light of some kind.
4. In the scene where Lighttoller(?) asks if anyone has found binoculars for the watch, Lowe can be seen, he is the one shrugging into his coat.
5. Lowe isn't seen again until after the iceberg has struck--when Mr. Andrews steps out to see that the ship's deck is devoid of passangers, watch carefully! As Mr. Andrews walks past some steps, he is in the background giving someone a life vest.
6. Watch carefully in all the scenes where lifeboats are loaded--he pops up occasionally, though I can't tell you where!
7. The crowds are getting worse...watch for a woman in a dark dress (purple to be exact) and a black hat. She's crying and rushes back to kiss her husband. Lowe tries to guide her into the lifeboat, then stands back and watches sadly.
8. Ioan's biggest scene yet! Some of the 3rd class passengers have made their way above deck. Lighttoller is getting pissed off--"Stand back I say, or I'll shoot everyone of you like dogs!" Lowe can be heard in the background also shouting "Keep back, keep back!" He is pretty hard to miss as he is very prominent in this part!
9. Lowe is ordered to man the lifeboat--he climbs in, still yelling for people to step back. As the lifeboat lowers, people try to climb in and he shoots his gun into the air.
10. Lowe is in a lifeboat and is not seen until the ship goes down. Then he is tying two lifeboats together and ordering "All the women from this boat, into that boat, quick as you can please!"
11. "Is anyone alive out there?"
12. He rescues Rose and his very last scene is when he lights up a flare and is signalling to the Carpathia.
