I Control the Sun

I control the sun
I turn on the stars
I make all the colors that you see
as you circle me
I open up the sky
I control the speed
I can make the green lights flash
I can make you crash

Barely makes a sound
Stop when you slow down

But I can't make you see things the way I see them
I can't make you feel things the way I feel them
I can't wait around for you
I've got better things to do

Cause I control the sun
I cool down the heat
I can make the walls spin around
erase the ground
I control the world
I can make it flat
I can make the water deep
so I can save you from the sea

Stop when you sink down
afraid that you would drown

But I can't make you see things the way I see them
I can't make you feel things the way I feel them
I can't wait around for you
I've got better things to do

I've pushed every button
I've pulled every string
I've tried every lever
I've tried everything

Barely makes a sound
Stop when you slow down

But I can't make you see things the way I see them
I can't make you feel things the way I feel them
I can't wait around for you
I've got better things to do
Cause I control the sun
I control the sun
If I can control the sun
then why can't I have you
I've got better things to do

here, in lisa's own words is an explanation of the song:

"This song is a fun pop song to play. It's one of the more produced songs on the record. We did the majority of the recording in Dave Bassett's groovy studio in Los Angeles and then finished it at my friend Chad Fisher's place in Laurel Canyon. Chad added the cool Beatle-esque keyboards in the bridge as well as the drums. Dave also played tons of guitar on the record - check out the vibrato guitar line at the beginning of the song. Dweezil Zappa, known for his fast guitar "shredding" style, actually played the very melodic guitar solo. If you listen to the lyrics, you might learn that even though you hink "you [I] control the sun" and want to control other people, sometimes you just can't do it. Sorry."
