I Do

When I’m done with thinkin’, then I’m done with you.
When I’m done with cryin’, then I’m done with you.
When I feel so tired, then I’m done with you.
You know, everybody feels this way sometimes,
Everybody feels this way.

And I do; you can’t hear it, but I do.
You can’t hear it, but I do.

You’re tryin’ to convince me that what I’ve done’s not right,
And I get so frustrated I stay up every night.
You asked me for an answer.
I’m so tired and I’m up in the air, I’m up in the air.
You know, everybody feels this way sometimes,
Everybody feels this way.

And I do; you can’t hear it, but I do.
You can’t hear it, but I’m feeling this way just because you say.
I will be ignored and I will be denied,
And I could be erased, I could be brushed aside.
And I will get scared and I will get shoved down,
But I feel like I do because you push me around.

I’m starting to ignore you, how I doubted you so long.
I’m tired of over-thinking, I know you don’t belong.
Now I’m asking questions. No one pushes me around.
You know, everybody feels this way sometimes,
Everybody feels this way.

And I do, you can’t hear it, but I do.
You don’t seem angry but I do.

lisa explains this song, from an online interview with dejamuse:

"Unfortunately, one of the reasons that I wrote that song was that the record company went through the really cliche rigamarole of saying, 'oh, you have no singles,' which I thought was not true. I thought there were other songs that they could have promoted. Record companies, especially more now than ever, from what I've, you know I've talked to a lot of other musicians, is they're really more singles oriented and it's difficult because it's like their subjective view of what a single is. Of course it is good when there's a certain spark to a song, but, at the same time, whatever they decide to put a lot of money behind, that might influence the success of a song as well, I think. And also, you know, when you hear a song a lot you start to like it. But, so anyway, the song 'I Do' is one of the songs that I went back and wrote when they said, 'go write a single.' And actually it was inspired by 'you don't hear it, but I do,' like, 'I think there's singles, but you don't (think there's any singles).' But, then I turned it into more of like a love song kind of situation. That was where some of the emotion came from in that song."
