Welcome to the 6th edition of Gazmission written for Wrestling Envy by Gary Griffiths.

WrestleMania X

Ten years on from WrestleMania I, The WWF was doin it’s best to promote a decade of WrestleMania’s, but no one was listening. In honour of it’s 10 year run, Vince and Co decided to stage the event at the exact same venue as the innaugral Mania 10 years back. The show was a good one, but that was on the basis of one match. The ladder match was not very often used in the WWF back in the mid 90’s. Maybe the odd Colliseum ladder match took place, but never on PPV. So Shawn Michaels and Razor decided to change that. In an epic battle, both men used the ladder in innovative way’s to wear down there opponents. In the end the vicotr was Razor when HBK got caught up in the ropes.
Also this night Bret Hart time came when he defeated Yokozuna to lift the Gold.

Rating – 7/10

WrestleMania XI

Now I mentioned in the WrestleMania IX review, that there had been worst PPV’s than that, well, I’d have to say this is a prime example. Now this show was diabolical, the main event pitted a retired US Football Star against a mid carder at very best. Now the rest as they say is history, I really am not in the mood to review such a bad show. Grrrrrrr…..

Rating – 3/10

WrestleMania XII

Shawn Michaels, the challenger, the boy who had a dream. Bret Hart the champion, the king of the jungle. To men destined to collide, and what better way to settle things, but to make this an Iron Man match. Yes, the first main WrestleMania main event to be an Iron Man Match. Now this was one for the ages, just about every North American move possible was used, along with some lucha style spots with Michaels as the leader as well. With 30 seconds remaining, the scores were level, and Michaels was locked in the Sharpshooter, did he give up??? ……Hell No!
HBK held on and eventually scored the pin with some Sweet Chin Music. The boyhood dream had finally came true.
Also on the show the Warrior returned and beat HHH, soon after though Helwig (Warrior) would leave again.

Rating – 7/10

WrestleMania 13

Not much to say about this show. Bret Hart and Stone Cold put on a fine show in there classic brawl, and in the main event Sid lost the Wolrd Title to the Undertaker. Although this match was bad, it has to be stated that Taker had been in a car accident only day’s earlier, so a good match really was never on the cards.
Anyway that’s bout it for WrestleMania 13, highlighted by one decent match, which is often the case with WrestleManias.

Rating – 6/10

WrestleMania XIV

Now this is probabaly one of my favourite WrestleMania’s ever. Ok the card wasn’t brilliant, but just the atmosphere was superb. It was upsetting though to see my favourite wrestler of all time, Shawn Michaels in obvious pain throughout the championship match up against Stone Cold, who eventually one the match via help from $6 Million a show Tyson. The best match of the card is most liekly to be the Dumpster Match between Funk and Cactus V.s NAO. This stunt field matchup was won by the Hardcore Legends, who got a surpisingly large pop.
But it should also be noted that WM 14 was the first time The Rocks…..”If ya smell what The Rock is cookins” phrase was used.

Rating – 8/10

WrestleMania XV

Like most WM this was a card which only featured one decent match up, and that was fittingly the main event between Austin and Rock, this brawl was full of near falls, but was eventually won by Austin.
And I really can’t think of anything else to wrote about this WM so…sorry!

Rating – 7/10

WrestleMania 2000

A WrestleMania without Stone Cold, Undertaker, and  Shawn Michaels is never gonna be the best around is it. And this certainly wasn’t. There were 3 good macthes on the card (Main Event, Ladder, and IC title) but the rest were terrible especially the crowd killing T&A v.S Head Cheese match/ Now that kinda bullsh*t belongs on Metal,. No the biggest show of the year. Still though, there have certainly been worse WrestleManias before hand, so I really shouldn’t be too hard.

Rating – 5/10

Now that ends a very long column, but hey it’s WrestleMania, I’ve gotta make the effort….Anyway, until next time...Love Peace and Sweet Chin Music…..
