:: Getting Over

Welcome to the 2nd edition of Getting Over written for Wrestling Envy by Lewis316.

Welcome

Welcome back to Getting Over everyone! This is the 2nd edition of my online column called Getting Over. For those of you reading this on another site, who missed the first edition go to my site www.WrestlingEnvy.cjb.net and read it. I was very pleased with the first edition, and I warned all the readers that the 2nd edition (this one) would probably completely suck. Well, there's only one way to find out - you read on, I'll write on..

Wrestlemania

This years Wrestlemania will surely be the greatest of all time - we say the same thing every year, but this year I truly mean it. The World Wrestling Federation roster is bulging with talent and it's just up to the WWF management to use them efficiently to put on a good show. I felt that last years Wrestlemania was a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, there were a number of good matches that were on the card - but it just lacked the magic it has boasted in the past. I am pretty sure why. It's two superstars that make the difference - that give it that magic that we've seen in past Wrestlemanias. No, no..it's not Triple H and The Rock. Hell, it's not even Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant. In my view, it's Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. Wrestlemania 14 - the main event was between those two. We had the magic. Wrestlemania 15 - Austin main evented against The Rock, but commissioner HBK appeared right before the main event to stop Vince being the referee. Magic here. Wrestlemania 16 (2000) - Where's Austin gone? Where's the Heartbreak Kid? No magic here. Wrestlemania 17 - Austin is back from injury and in the main event once more. Shawn Michaels is going to be there too. Now we have our magic back. This year Wrestlemania is going back to it's traditional roots and I'm glad. This year's advert has a traditional side to it - it has Austin on the advert. Guess which superstar on it is suspiciously the only one not a current WWF superstar. Shawn Michaels. A hint perhaps? A big hint, I would say. I wouldn't be surprised if HBK got invoved in the Triple H/Undertaker match in some way or form. I would guess as a special guest referee - or something along those lines. Mania X-7, this is going to be good. I can't wait. The reason I can't wait is because of my imagination. It runs wil when I consider the possibilities of this years Wrestlemania. Here are the list of matches that are likely to take place, with what all the other columnists do - predictions for what will happen.

WWF Title Match: Steve Austin vs. The Rock w/Debra

In this match I feel Debra will have significance in the outcome of the match - otherwise Vince wouldn't have made her The Rock's manager. Because The Rock is filming The Scorpion King in the 6 months following Wrestlemania, he can't win the title. It will be Austin who will win the gold. Debra will screw Austin sometime in the match and help the Rock, but Kurt Angle will make a run-in, interfere, break the Rock's ankle and Austin will eventually get the Stunner - for the belt. Rock's ankle injury will then give him the perfect reason for his absence. New champion: Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The Undertaker vs. Triple H

As I said earlier in the column, Shawn Michaels will be special guest referee. So, what have we got..The Undertaker is face (good guy), Triple H is heel (bad guy) and Shawn Michaels is face too. This match is my pick for a heel turn. Not for The Undertaker, but for Shawn Michaels. He will hit 'Taker with the Sweet Chin Music and give HHH the win. Hopefully, then HBK, Triple H, X-Pac, and Justin Credible (maybe) will re-form D-Generation X. Oh well - we can only hope! Winner: Triple H

Hardcore Title Match: Big Show vs. Kane

Not even a confirmed match as I write this column, but as Kane is unbooked for Mania and his tag partner Undertaker is, he will probably face Big Show for the hardcore title. I think Show will retain his title in this match but will lose the belt mid-way through the bout to Steve Blackman or Hardcore Holly. Winner: Big Show

TLC Match for Tag Titles: Dudley Boyz vs. Edge/Christian vs. Hardy Boyz

This match will almost definitely happen. Last year we saw these 3 teams go at it in a ladder match. That was a stunning match and this year will be just as good - if not better. A certain candidate for match of the year. As for the winners, I would go for the Hardy Boyz retaining the titles through a straight win via a Swanton Bomb off a ladder, through a table. Winners: The Hardy Boyz

Intercontinental Title Match: Chris Jericho vs. William Regal

Well I can only see one out come for this match. The winner will be William Regal via some interference in some way. To make this brief, Jericho is set for a big push in 2001 and is set to become WWF Champion later this year. So he will lose the IC Title here to Regal, who will then feud with Test. Winner: William Regal

Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero vs. vs. Dean Malenko vs. Perry Saturn

All four Radicalz against each other in a fatal four way sounds very interesting. All of these competitors are talented WRESTLERS - meaning they can wrestle using more than 5 moves. This is a good bet for Chris Benoit to win - he will be the only face in the match and versus 3 other heels can only bring one outcome for me. Benoit will become a solid face in this match-up as he will move up for bigger things, as like Chris Jericho. This will be a technical match with a high entertainment level. Winner: Chris Benoit

Crash Holly & Molly Holly vs. Raven & Tori (Mystery Ninja)

This one's a hard one to call. So I'm gonna go all out and just say Raven and Tori will win. They are the heel team so to even out the card a little, the heel team will win the match. Simple as that. Winner: Raven & Tori

Women's Title Match: Chyna vs Ivory

This is going to be the easiest match to predict with the obvious winner being the returning Chyna. The only other way Ivory will win is by Chyna re-injuring her neck injury AGAIN. As this happened in their previous encounter, it will not repeat itself. So that leaves us with a new dominant women's champion. Winner: Chyna

Kurt Angle vs. Test

The only reason I've put this match on here is because these are 2 superstars left unbooked through my other predicted matches. I really want Test to get a win over Test and move into the big time, but at the same time I can't see former WWF Champion Kurt Angle jobbing at the biggest event of the year. Winner: No Contest

Haku & Rikishi vs. Right To Censor vs. Acolytes

As with the match before, this is just another match between the unbooked wrestlers on the Mania card. This will turn into a big brawl with the eventual winners being Rikishi and Haku. This match will spell the end of RTC with them being at the hands of a beating from the APA during the match-up. Winners: Haku & Rikishi

Wrapping it up..

Well that's the end of my second column, and to be honest it didn't suck as much as I thought it would. Oh well, I guess the next time I'll see you is after Wrestlemania with an analysis of the event. This has been a long column, so I better end it here. Thanks for taking your time to read it - until next time, this has been Lewis316...
