The Jewish Defense League International Leadership Conference was held on Friday, October 29th at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in Reno Nevada.  JDL leaders from around North America took part in the group's reorganization and restructuring.  According to leadership attendees, the conference was highly successful.  The JDL also announced the position of a new International Chairman.  Bill Maniaci, JDL International Chairman stepped down due to health concerns but will remain with the organization to perform other duties.  Maniaci has been a successful leader for the JDL since the murder of Past Chairman Irv Rubin.  Chairman Maniaci handed over the torch of leadership to Matthew Finberg.  Mr. Finberg is a successful attorney in Colorado and embraces Torah and Jewish Law.  Chairman Finberg presented the new Jewish Defense League Mission Statement, announcing in part, the intention of the JDL to work closely with federal and local law enforcement agencies to fight against terrorism by sharing a wealth of intelligence information that the JDL processes on a daily basis.  The leadership also explained that the Jewish Defense League is headquartered in the United States, with chapters in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Holland, South Africa, with members at large throughout Eastern and Western Europe. The JDL will be different than it's previously perceived violent reputation.  The JDL Leadership says that the organization intends to use its resources and membership to first protect the rights and safety of all Jews in the United States and the rest of the Diaspora.  The league will remain a staunch supporter of Israel and Zionism.  The leadership says that they will utilize their intelligence gathering capabilities (unrestricted when compared to government agencies) to gather information on potential terrorists, acts of terrorism and violence, directed against Jews, Jewish property, and respective countries, and will share that information with proper authorities.  The JDL leadership states that it is their contribution to the war on terrorism.
