Portage Glacier Photographs

Polar Bear Divider Bar

Located about 45 miles from Anchorage off the Seward Highway and on the way to Whittier.

The glacier has carved the lake up to 800 feet deep and four miles wide. The glacier has receded quite a bit, it was much bigger when I visited it last in the early 70's. The visitor's center was completely renovated, it's is awesome and worth checking out. There are quite a few exhibits, it is fun for children as there are quite a few interactive displays here.
