Hanging Lake, located along I-70 in Glenwood Canyon. This hike is a little over a mile long, the last part is pretty steep.
Mt. Sopris (elevation over 12,000 feet) is home to Carbondale, Colorado. I was lucky enough to live here for 4 years in the early 80's before the town tripled in size.
Beautiful Maroon Bells area about 12 miles outside of Aspen, Colorado. You can no longer drive your vehicle there, you either have to ride a bicycle or take the bus.
Closer to home - Mesa Lakes located on the Grand Mesa about 30 miles from Grand Junction.
Colorado National Monument located next to Grand Junction. This drive is not for those afraid of heights! There are many hiking trails and pull outs to go exploring.
Castle Creek area about 15 miles south of Aspen, Colorado.
