How could they just sit
there and watch it die?
I never felt so sorry
for a small creature.
But it was struggling
so hard to get away
It wanted to live,
to be free.
That mouse reminds
me of myself.
Wanting to get away,
to be free.
I love that mouse
and I wish it the
best life a mouse
could possibly have.

Jessi wrote this poem the night a mouse got caught in a sticky trap. She was very upset about the entire ordeal. We figured out how to release the mouse and her and her brother, CJ, set it free a few blocks away from our house.
