"Chan, who is a Deputy Chief Minister, said he was shocked and grieved by the ruthless terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon in the United States of America on Tuesday. He could not believe that a tragedy of this proportion could happen within one of the strongest countries in the world.
‘All forms of terrorism must be condemned in the strongest terms. This is because we must respect the sanctity of human life and avoid inflicting sufferings on innocent people,’ said Chan. ‘The terrorists, however, have no conscience and regard for lives and property.’
Chan said he understood the grief of the American people and he conveyed his deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of those who had lost their loved ones and friends in the attack."
