CZW X-Division Title History

The CZW X-Division Title History

The cZw X title was created December 9th 2007, the first X Champion won the title on Jan 17th 2008. El Pablo defeated J.A. Sawyer and Ian Chadwick in what still stands as one of the most violent matches held under the CZW banner. El Pablo held the title until May 29th at May Massacre, when the 'All or Nothing' three way dance happened. Matt pinned Ace and picked the World title, vacating the X title.

The X title was left vacant until Summer Showdown, where Krimzon Blaze defeated 5 other men in the Ultimate X Chamber match.

In Phoenix on July 10th, new comer Eddie Rowan shocked many when he pinned K-Blaze to win the title in a singles match, with the St. Edward's Fall.

Eddie set a new title record, holding the title up until the very last day of 2008. Mike Monroe, his former ally, is the man who won it from him in a Lumberjack match.

Jacob Havok defeated Mike Monroe at Evil Intentions to become the new X Champion. He held it until the next pay-per-view, Volatile Day, where Mr. Kiljoy claimed the title in the first ever Combat X match.

The one-month curse continues for the X-Division title, as Mr. Kiljoy lost it to Cage Stryker at Road To Glory II.

Summer Showdown 2009 was a historic day in CZW history. It saw the second Ultimate X match in which BOTH the X and WORLD'S titles were on the line. Krimzon Blaze, in a repeat of last years Ultimate X Title Match, reclaimed the X Title.

Krimzon's second reign was definitely more impressive than his first, and he held the title for over a month before losing it to "Mr. Entertainment" Brian Blaze.

At There Will Be Blood, Brian Blaze successfully retained the title in a Frenzy match against The Zodiac Thrilla, Kimo Newton, Ryan Shane, Johnny Kerosene, and what was supposed to be Sean Hustle but thanks to 'The God of War', Caleb Walker took Sean's place.

At the final Overdrive before Road To Glory III, Brian Blaze faced off against his own cousin, Tim Timmons. With the help of Jesse Montana, Timmons was able to almost literally steal the title from Brian, ending his impressive reign.

Tim held the title until Summer Showdown, where the annual Ultimate X Chamber match occurred. In a deadly battle between Tim, Ryan Shane, Eddie Rowan, Krimzon Blaze, Johnny Kerosene and Sam Attic... Ryan Shane managed to win the title, with Sam being considered "runner up."

And in that match, which ended up having the first ever CZW X-Division champion, El Pablo, as the guest referee, Sam Attic pulled out all the stops and defeated Ryan Shane in what many consider a five star match. Afterwards, it was announced Sam's first title defense will be against El Pablo at CZW's biggest event of the year... HATEWAVE!

Hatewave III was quite the event, with Sam and El Pablo going toe to toe, fist to fist. In an excellent match, El Pablo overcame the odds and won the title he had been the first to ever hold, becoming a two-time X-Division champion!

Sam Attic had a rematch in line, and it happened in Perth, Australia... in a FTLC match, and not only that, a Damage Control match as well. The match was insane as predicted, but El Pablo managed to put Sam through a glass and then a flaming table to climb the ladder and retain the title, thus ending Sam Attic's CZW employment.

EP's next defense came in Melbourne, when he faced "The Paragon" Alexander Slate at Horrorcore. The match was hotly contested, with EP coming within milliseconds of losing his belt on several occasions. However, a counter to a countered hurricanrana proved to be the decisive moment, and EP managed to claw out the victory - the only reigning champion at the PPV to do so!

With Slate giving a good showing at Horrorcore, He was booked in a rematch against EP in Osaka, Japan. In a match that involved renegades Havok, Attic & Idolized, Slate actually made The Five Star Superstar tap out to become X-Divison champ!

In Nagoya, Slate challenged any Renegade to a one-on-one impromptu match for the title, and the call was answered by a former champ, Jacob Havok. The match ended in a double count out, prompting officials to book a re-match for the Tribute To The Troops show in Afghanistan, on February 7th.

In the return edition of Overdrive to CZW.com, "American Gaijin" Mike Monroe stood tall after defeating for other former champions to become the new CZW X-Division Champion.

At "Kingdom Come," long-time friend and partner Krimzon Blaze defeated Monroe to become the first three-time X-Division champion. Blaze would go on to completely defy all expectations with his reign, holding the belt for a remarkable 197 days - comfortably surpassing Eddie Rowan to take the number 2 spot for the division's history - before finally dropping it to Wes Hartley, who had been forced to wait several months for his opportunity at the belt due to injury, at the Desperate Times PPV.
