Henry Hayes was a combat medic in the U.S. Army who lost his leg in a suicide bomber attack. The Biotek corporation gave him a new synthetic leg, but unbeknownst to Henry, they added far more than just a new leg. Biotek had turned Henry into a Deathlok, a cyborg assassin. Using a trigger word to control Henry, they sent him on several special operations, wiping his memory after each mission. With the help of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Henry's sympathetic handler, Deathlok has managed to break free of his mind control and seeks to put an end to Biotek.
