Physical Appearance: Gavin is of pretty average height. He is built surprisingly well, but tends to lean a bit on the skinnier side. (But not as skinny as his brother) Gavin's skin tone is a pale pink colour, and he is susceptible to severe sunburn and he has many freckles to prove it. Gavin's face is a bit boxy and sharp, but slender at the same time. His chin is rather wide and sharp. It appears as though he hasn't quite grown into his face yet. (Read: He's one of those guys that get's more handsome as he ages) His nose is boxy and rather wide, and a tad bit short. His hair is of a dark-red hue and it falls across his forehead, it lays pretty close to his head, and he keeps it rather short. (About 2-3 inches long) and neatly trimmed in the back. His eyes are an extremely dark brown, and they naturally appear very wide and curious. His small black framed oval glasses accentuate the wideness of his eyes. His eyebrows are set up abnormally high on his face. He has a few freckles spread across his nose and cheeks. Gavin's attire is rather random. He enjoys short-sleeved button ups and old leisure suit jackets of dark colours. His favourite pair of pants are black, but with white tie-dyed circles around them, they also end rather...um...flared. Wears T-shirts a lot as well, actually he wears them the most out of anyone in the band. Loves ringer-tees. Always wears a necklace he got in Hawaii. He loves shoes, and often buys rather weird styles and colours. However his most comfortable pair are normal brown pair.

Family:

Childhood: Although Gavin was raised along with Garrett in the same environment, everything was much different to Gavin. Since he had three people always looking out for him (or at least just Garrett when the parents were away) Gavin didn't have to worry about too much, so he used that time to enjoy the scenery and explore the places around him. Although when he was very young Garrett got awful pleasure out of tormenting the younger Sykes. But that didn't last too long when Garrett realized he really needed to look out after Gavin when he would end up getting in trouble. So overall, Gavin's childhood was of travel and new places and hardly any worries. At a young age Gavin used a lot of his time exploring and asking a TON of questions because he was so curious about everything. Sensing that their son's curiosity was nearly insatiable, Gavin's parents bought him books so he could look up things for himself. So a lot of the time Gavin's nose was poked in a book. At this time Gavin was also introduced to music and he acquired an accordion as a gift which he fell in love with. All of this either this encouraged Gavin's intelligence, or it was brought on because of it. Either way Gavin grew up with a mind that absorbed everything, leaving him with a ton of knowledge. When he was home-schooled with Garrett, he would often finish before his brother, or end up helping him in the end which probably annoyed Garrett to pieces. When he and his brother moved back to Toronto permanently, Gavin was placed in higher learning classes. And despite his geeky appearance, kids took a liking to him because he had so many stories, and he could and would always help others with their homework and explain things to them. In High school however, Gavin took an unexpected back-seat to his brother who was secretly infamous from his own time spent there. However Gavin had built a strong friendship with some kids who helped him shape his own name in the bigger school, especially in music class where he was the teachers pride student. In late high school, Gavin was bored by what the school had to offer and the faculty knew it, so he was able to take college courses for a year. It was a little before this time that Gavin met Adam because he was supposed to tutor him in a class. Gavin took pity on Adam's lack of musical support and invited him to jam. The rest is history.

How this shaped his personality...: Needless to say, Gavin is a pretty laid back guy except when it comes to school. He is on the ball, and absolutely sharp with his own education. Other then that, Garrett is practically forced to continue acting as the pseudo parent. Gavin does help out using his amazing mind, and he has become the official-unofficial secretary for the band. Walking in his brothers footsteps, Gavin has become a "couldn't care less" guy about what other people think of him, which has led a lot of people to respect him and like him for who he is. Even if he doesn't say that much, because he is so used to other people speaking before he has contemplated what to say.

Basic Personality: Overall Gavin is the quiet (almost seemingly aloof) guy in the band. He's the one who sits back and watches the action take place. Gavin enjoys reading, camping, hiking, and appreciating what little nature there is in the city. He also likes letting other people know what they're missing out on, or correcting them if they are mistaken about a trivial thing. Gavin only gets uptight if he's late for a class, or if he doesn't know the answer to a question. As much as Gavin enjoys quiet, he Doesn't mind when his roommates are loud, because they amuse him and make him laugh. Gavin will often try to make his own jokes to see if he can get a rise out of the guys like everyone else does.

Band Manerisms: Doesnt stray too far from his beloved keyboards, only leaves if he's on tamborine, then he might join his brother near the front of the stage. Often has intense look on face while playing, but you can tell he loves what he does.

Religion: Doesn't stop and think about religion all the much. Celebrates Christian holidays.

Goals: Perhaps go back to school. Master piano and violin. Write own piano scores someday. If being a musician fails, he wants to be a music teacher. Travel. Hopes to marry someday.

Garrett: ******* Loves his brother deep down, and often looks up to him, but never lets Garrett know. Oddly enough he shows his love for his brother through sibling rivalry, and bugging him relentlessly.

Colin: ****** Likes Colin a good deal, but again doesn't show it often. Often encourages Colin to do things that he wouldn't otherwise do because of his self-conscienceness. Also likes Colin because of his overall good humour, and he's a good guy to hang out with. Although Colin is about 5 years older then Gavin, Gavin feels as though they both share the same amount of humility when it comes to how much they are both teased in the band.

Adam: ***** Is used to Adam. It's true Gavin brought him home years before, but he has learned since then what Adam can be like when he is not focusing on music. Gavin will hang out with Adam because he has a pretty good idea that Adam is great-full for his new friends, as apposed to who he used to hang out with in High School. Gives props to Adam for breaking away from what he used to be.

Javier: **** Thinks Javier can be a tad bit annoying at times. Likes his enthusiasim and bright outlook on everything. Gets annoyed that Javier picks on him a lot though.
