--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Endangered Animals of the World is a display of some of the many endangered species around the world. It is by no means a comprehensive listing, but merely highlights a small selection of species at risk of vanishing forever from this planet.
This site is divided into several pages:
The three animal pages have a list of endangered animals, organized by their
taxonomic classification. These entries were adapted mainly from the Red List
of endangered animals, and describe the extent to which the animals are endangered.
The links page allows you to visit other sites which I feel are worth looking
at. I highly encourage you to do further research into the animals which interest
you the most.
The awards page highlights the acknowledgements I have received from other
websites.
Mission Statement
In the hopes of raising awareness about the plight of endangered animals throughout the world, Endangered Animals of the World strives to spread knowledge among the public while maintaining the following goals:
To present information in the clearest manner possible to the greatest possible
audience
To remain as commercial-free as possible
To inspire the public to take action in the conservation effort
Origins and Development
I created the Endangered Animals of the World website for a project I was doing as a member of the 460th Toronto Scout Troop, in Canada. The number of visitors and positive comments I received encouraged me to maintain this site for as long as possible. The following timeline chronicles the development of Endangered Animals of the World:
June 19, 2002 All entries were verified and updated as required, and a Mission
Statement was developed for the site.
November 29, 1998 A text-only version of Endangered Animals of the World was
released, allowing people with slower connections to easily access the information
provided on this site.
September 7, 1998 A free search engine from PicoSearch was added to the front
page.
June 28, 1998 A navigation bar was developed to make the site easier to surf.
An awards page was also added.
March 12, 1998 To celebrate the first birthday of the site, I redesigned the
front page.
March 12, 1997 Endangered Animals of the World was born, with a small display
of animals.
