The Great Captains of Krakoa was established by the Quiet Council of Krakoa for the purpose of advancing the interests of the nation's military. Each Captain of Krakoa is in charge of a specific jurisdiction. The Captain Commander is chief among all Captains. This post was initially held by Cyclops, but after reforming the X-Men he stepped down from this post and was succeeded by Bishop.
