The
Character
With his deadly freeze ray Victor Fries was one of
Batman's most deadly foes.
But with time his cryogenically altered body withered, unable to
stand the ravages of time. With his beloved wife Nora long gone,
his body no more, trapped only as an icy immortal head, Victor had
nothing to live for.
Except the promise of a new life.
After receiving a new body (cloned from his records) at the behest
of Derek Powers, Victor sets forth to be the kind, decent man he
once was. Mr. Freeze's hopes of leading a normal life are crushed
when his condition reverts and he coldly swears revenge on all those
he blames for giving him false hopes, proving once and for all that
Victor Fries is dead, and only Mr. Freeze remains.
Parallels
and Thoughts
Freeze is the only character so far untouched by time.
Being nearly immortal, time would have very little meaning to him.
He is still the tortured soul that he has always been, not that
it is really his fault. Of all characters in the Batman mythos,
he seems to have been dealt one of the worst hands. Even in the
future, his dreams of becoming normal again are crushed, and those
he trusted betray him. Is it any wonder he always turns to revenge
as an answer?
