Buffy Season Three Review

After Season Two's ending, I wasn't too sure where Buffy was going to go in its third year. Angel had been sent to hell, Buffy had left town and Joyce finally knew about her daughters after school activities. We were thrown into Season Three with Buffy living in LA under the name of 'Anne'. The Scoobies are looking after Sunnydale and Giles is looking for any traces of Buffy, she does however return the relationships are mended. Now the show could have gone this path for the rest of the season, but when ever did Joss Whedon give us anything repetative or un-unique? He firstly throws a new Slayer into the mix, Faith, the Slayer turned bad, the Mayor, this seasons big baddie, whimpy new watcher Wesley and the return of Angel. He then adds the fact the scoobies are graduating and thinking of life beyond high school. As with the end of each season, the baddie is bigger and badder, and the Mayor sums up everything that is big and bad, turning into a huge pure demon, and keeping Faith on the wrong sides of the tracks. Strong performances this season from Gellar, Green and Hannigan who's character of Willow really blossmed this year. Season Three also the departure of Angel and Cordelia to LA. Although not having the magic that Season Two had, Season Three was extremly entertaining and showed that graduation means different things in the world of Sunnydale.
