Prior to pursuing a career in comedy, Dez Reed was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Dez Reed began his comedy career at in his hometown of Saskatoon at the local comedy club. After his very first performance ever, he was invited to move to Edmonton, Alberta to perform as a professional comedian. His first headline performance was less than three months after his first amateur night. After staying in Edmonton and touring Alberta and British Columbia for six months, Dez Reed moved to New York City. In New York, Dez performed at many of the open-mike clubs throughout the city as well as "A" list clubs such as The Comic Strip and Stand Up New York. From New York, Dez moved back to Canada, settling in the mecca for Canadian entertainment, Toronto, Ontario. In Toronto, Dez excelled as a stand up comedian at the various comedy clubs, as an improv comedian at the Second City and as a bit part actor in over twenty motion pictures including Hostage for a Day directed by and starring John Candy and Sodbusters directed by Eugene Levy and starring Kris Kristofferson and Fred Williard among others. After several years in Toronto, Dez relocated back to his hometown of Saskatoon. With the internet and cheap airfare, the centre of North America seemed as good a place as any to set up base camp. The move seemed crazy to many of his peers which live at any cost in Toronto, New York or L.A., but Dez' stature in the business has continued to rise and his per show fee has more than tripled since his Toronto days in both Canada and the USA. Dez has firmly established himself as a top ten comedian in Canada, and every place he performs in the United States has agreed that Dez is one of the best live comedians they have ever seen. UPDATE: Dez has been accepted into the 2008 San Francisco Comedy Competition in September and October. There is a sweet fundraiser Thursday, September 4 at The Overdrive in Saskatoon to aid in Dez' San Fran expenses. Comedy show and good times. For ticket info call 244-1403 or visit:
