MANTRICKER & THORNFLOWER

Mantricker was the son of Goodtree and either Acorn or Lionleaper. He was the ninth chief of the wolfriders and took his name from the pranks he played on the humans. His tricks caused his death, when in a final desperate act to get the humans to leave the forest, he kipnapped a human child and cut the child's face in front of the humans. The humans retaliated and threw spears at him, piercing his side. Mantricker's wolf friend pulled the spear from his side and carried his injuried body to the tribe, where Mantricker told his son, Bearclaw of his mistake then died.

Mantricker was the lovemate of Brightwater, the tribe's tanner and had a few cubs with her, although none of them survived to adulthood. He Recognized Thornflower while tracking the humans who had taken her and it is not known whether or not they completed the Recognition or in fact that Thornflower is Bearclaw's mother.

Almost nothing is known about Thornflower other than that she was captured by humans and to be sold into slavery. However, Mantricker rescued her and during his rescue Recognized her much to both of their dismay. Thornflower is more than likely the mother of Bearclaw although it is not certain.
