I am Stuart, the Author, the SkSpAwN, whoever and whatever. After years of following the adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog, both in games and in other media such as comics and cartoons, I created my own mythology of Sonic in the form of a long running series known as New Sonic Adventures.

The first introduction to Sonic I had was Issue Two of Fleetway's Sonic The Comic, since then I was hooked, and collected every Issue I could right up until the comics were discontinued. The comics had a very profound impact on my view of Sonic's world, as they told unique stories based much closer to the games themselves, unlike their American counter-part.

After compiling a complete index of every Issue and every story, I made it my business to back track through every single Issue and make a note of everything and anything that played a part in Sonic's world in this comic series, eventually becoming this very Encyclopaedia, which I now share On-Line with you.

Hopefully, through this guide I have made, I will be able to translate just how special these comics were to me and how unique and detailed they are in telling the story of Sonic. Hope you enjoy it.

In 1993, Egmont Fleetway produced the UK's official SEGA magazine Sonic The Comic for the cheap price of 95p. The first Issue came with three stories; Sonic The Hedgehog, Golden Axe and Wonder Boy. From the second Issue onwards the comic would produce four stories, over time the other SEGA characters (featuring Marko's Magic Football, Sparkster, Streets Of Rage and Decap Attack) would be slowly phased out to make way for extra Sonic stories (including Sonic's World, Amy, Tails and even Robotnik stories).

The comic was "run" by a robot made out of various SEGA consoles who called himself Megadroid and boasted the impressive art style of Richard Elson and Nigel Dobbyn, the writing talent of Nigel Kitching and Lew Stringer, and the editing of Richard Burton, to name only a few. The comic's also often came with free gifts such as sweets, toys and games, as it was largely aimed at children (later to be aimed at teens).

As time progressed, the cover design and comic layout under went many changes, as well as the price of the comic steadily climbing up to £1.50 and the comics making the transfer to 100% recycled paper.

Unfortunately, by 2000, the comic produced only re-prints of earlier Sonic stories. This continued until December of 2001 when Sonic The Comic was officially cancelled at Issue 223, finishing with a re-print of the four story saga "The Evil Empire".

Fleetway's Sonic The Comic established a solid, enthralling universe within the nine years of its publication and is largely regarded as the most accurate and preferred Sonic comic when compared with the restrictive, complicated stylings of America's Sonic The Hedgehog comic book series. Today, Sonic The Comic lives on On-Line (see the "Links" section for a Link) and in the memories of those who shared the stories over the years.
