Guy first gained his Vuldarian powers in issue 23, but didn't first assume his Warrior form ( with the tattoos ) until issue 0. His powers were uncontrollable and unpredictable in the first few issues, but I think Buck Wargo or sombody gave him a cybernetic enabler thing which regulates his powers. He has used more and more complicated weaponry since he first gained his powers, and on the cover of issue 34, Phil Jiminez drew areas on Guy where pieces of skin were missing. This is appropriate, considering the content of the issue. But underneath the skin, Jiminez drew red machinery identical to the color and metallic style his weapons look like. Hmm... Also, in Guy's comics, several times, people on the letter column asked why Guy didn't make rockets with his feet and fly. Well, a card published in the 1996 DC Firepower series shows Guy flying with rockets out of his feet. Recently, in Green Lantern, in the last episode of the Alex Nero storyline where the JLA helps against Nero, Superman had just been punched through a wall by Nero, so Guy made rocket boots and flew over to Superman and asked if he was okay. He flew! It is yet to be "officially" determined by DC if Guy can "really" do this, but I don't think they care about Guy enough to clarify it. Oh well.
