Another Thunderbolt?
They broke up two years ago. It didn’t help that Elina still lived next door. At
first, she wasn’t happy about him coming back to Russia married. She even tried
to get Nikita back. He still refused her. He clearly in love with his wife.
There was no way that Elina would be able to break them up. By now, she had all
but given up on him.
But now, something was off today.
Mai still hadn’t come home from Japan. It was a Sunday and Nikita didn’t have to
go into work today. He walked out down the doorway to his trash bin. He opened
the lid and dropped the bag into the bin. Nikita happened to turn his head when
he noticed Elina standing outside of her house. Due to her panties and t-shirt
she had just gotten out of bed. She yawned as she stretched her arms above her
head. Nikita couldn’t stop staring at her. A wave of nostalgia washed over his
brain. Elina never cared about what she wore out in front of her home.
Sometimes, he thought it was to make him jealous.
Right now, he couldn’t stop staring. That was when she was looking back at him.
“Oh, good morning!” Elina shouted. Nikita coughed and cleared his throat.
“Um… morning,” he said. His ex tilted her head.
“Mai’s still not back yet?” she asked. His cheeks reddened as he shook his head.
“Oh,” she said. Elina walked down to her mailbox and looked inside. Nikita
stared as she gathered up her paper. She didn’t even look at him as she walked
back to her house. He didn’t even come back to earth when she shut the door.
What was that just now? Nikita had stared at Elina like that since three years
before their break-up. He slapped himself in the cheek.
“Get it together, man,” he said to himself. Nikita closed the lid and walked
back into his house.
----------
That image of Elina in t-shirt and panties wouldn’t leave his head. She still
looked kind of hot after all of this time. He could almost overlook how crazy
she was. Almost. Elina didn’t really have any emotion about Mai not being back
yet. In fact, she hadn’t been over to seduce him like she did last year. Nikita
hated to admit it but he felt kind of hurt by that. It didn’t help that he
hadn’t heard from Mai since two days ago. He didn’t have a good feeling about
this.
I hope that she’s okay.
Nikita made some coffee in the kitchen. Maybe he should call her. Wait… call
who? Was he calling Mai or Elina? Why was there even a question? It was supposed
to be his wife. That was who he loved after all. Why was he even thinking about
his ex?
It donned on him that he could see her house from his kitchen window. He’s known
that all along but why did he just now notice that? Right now, Elina’s blinds
were closed. Nikita couldn’t help but picture her in her panties and t-shirt.
She would be dancing around her living room. She used to do that a lot when they
were together. Annoying pop music would wake him back in their apartment. He
never complained at it to her. In fact, sometimes Nikita would silently watch
her dancing from the hallway. Elina was just lost in her little world with the
music. He never figured out why she did that.
Mai never danced around in the living room in her underwear. However, she and
Nikita had their own version of fun. They were a little bit boring at first. The
anger sex was the only thing making things interesting. Over time, Nikita found
that he grew to enjoy Mai’s company. They didn’t really have to do too much. He
just loved having her around. This trip made him realize that. Maybe he should
call his wife. Nikita frowned to himself. Would she even pick up? What if she
never came back to him? What if she decided to stay in Japan with her family?
Would the marriage be over then?
Nikita looked over at his ex’s house. He couldn’t be thinking about that. Did
even still have feelings for Elina? She seemed to have moved on from him. Was
she even still single? He could call and ask. Nikita cursed himself as he shook
his head. That just sounded desperate.
“What the hell is wrong with me?!” Nikita asked aloud. Suddenly, his phone rang.
The man ran over to his phone across the kitchen.
“Hello?” Nikita asked.
“Baby?” Mai asked on the other line. His heart jumped in his chest.
“Mai!” he about yelped. “Mai, how are you?” There was a pause on the other line.
“Fine… Are you okay?” she asked. The husband tried to make himself calm down.
“Yeah! I mean… yes, I’m fine,” Nikita said. He cleared his throat.
“I just missed you,” he said.
“That’s makes me so happy to hear that!” Mai said. “I’m coming home!” Nikita’s
eyes grew wide. He covered his mouth.
“Hello? Hello?” Mai asked. A loud squeal could be heard throughout the empty
house. That just left the whole issue with Elina. That was going to have come
later. Mai would have to forgive him once he got home. That didn’t matter. His
wife was coming home.
