Deducing where he might find proof of a missing link between man and ape, Dr. Druid heads to Africa and while exploring there, discovers Gorgilla, a monstrous ape-creature. However, Druid decides to leave the beast in its habitat after it saves him from a dinosaur.

Sometime later, Gorgilla is brought to America in a cargo ship and released by the Deviant Kro. It then headed to Yankee Stadium where it was briefly captured by the Monster Hunters. It broke free and rampaged again before Doctor Druid mentally made contact with it and brought it under his control.
