HISTORY
After newspaper reporter Dan Mitchell witnesses a spacecraft crash, he meets its pilot, a monsterous being called Gruto. Gruto, however, has received amnesia and cannot remember his purpose for arriving on Earth. Mitchell, in need of a hot story, decides to play up the alien's arrival, detailing him as a vicious invader from the stars. Soon, the whole world is attacking the monster.
Eventually, though, Gruto regains his memory, and explains that he had come to earth to share his planet's knowledge. However, he has been shown now that Earth is not ready for that reward and leaves. Mitchell is left a disgraced man.
In an alternate reality, Gruto was one of several aliens and monsters summoned by the villain Jack O' Lantern to attack the world. The creatures were defeated by a group of supernatural crusaders.
